The Stetson One-Hundred "100"

Just exquisite! I don't know where you find such fine examples-

Thanks Brando... this one was hiding in plain sight for quite a while at a price that was too high. I have been trying to restrain myself back from buying unless the condition is very good or the item is unusual or rare. I'm still green and learning, but trying not to accumulate so much that I have to open a store. 8^)

Alan that 100 is a work of art! I'm right there with you ..not sure I could use good judgement if I came upon one this nice with any price tag on it.

Hello there, Fedora Lounge! I know that I'm new here, but I was wondering if you could teach me about my Stetson 100. Unfortunately, it isn't my size (it's a 7 1/8), and I've never looked good in hats anyway. I would like to learn about it so I can properly date it / get an idea about its approximate value.

I've been looking around for posts about the Stetson 100, trying to learn what I can, but I'd really like some expert input. As far as I know, I have everything(?) that came with the hat- the luggage-style case (without any outside tag/Stetson plate) with both keys, and the original plastic inserts.
The hat has a John B. Stetson pin, as well as a little image of the Stetson crest. Does the presence of the pin / Stetson crest knob (excuse my ignorant terminology, I honestly know next to nothing about hats) influence potential price/indicate rarity? Or was the J.B.S. pin a sort of freebie with the hat when it originally sold? I'm assuming it's a good thing to have.

Wrapped in some sort of plastic with the keys, I also found what I appear to be the original Quality Insurance Representative slips.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :) I'd like to learn all I can about this fancy piece of headwear.
What you have there is a beautiful amazing vintage hat worth a pretty penny. I will let the experts here date it for you instead of me taking a stab at it.

It is indeed a beautiful hat. But, it seems like you are seeking advice from the very people who would be interested in buying such a hat to begin with. I am not a fan of people using this forum simply as a place to vet a hat in an attempt to boost their auction prices.

Believe me -- it's nothing personal. I'm just commenting on something I see here from time to time. Others may not share my view.

Good luck with your auction. :)

Cheers,
JtL

And proudly, gratefully it does just that. What I notice is that Alan's 100 has "stars" on his sweatband crest & a square size tag where mine has the "leaf" crest but the keyhole size tag. Stetson just couldn't make anything simple????

And Jimmy, I'm with you on the "please help me figure out how to price my auction item" query viewpoint. The market will let you know what it is worth soon enough...

I understand your concerns, and I actually debated posting at all- I don't like rubbing people the wrong way if I can avoid it. But I figured that the best authority on the matter would be the people who actively collect, trade, and discuss such hats. If it was wrong for me to simply inquire information about my hat, I apologize.

Just a hint, your first post to a forum shouldn't be soliciting value determination of something you are admittedly looking to sell. Come in, get to know the place, introduce yourself, post some of your other hats, do some research.... busting in with that post is off-putting....IMHO

From the photos, it looks like your sweatband has the stars and the liner has the leaf.

I don't think I have ever seen a 100 sweatband that did not have the stars. Not sayin' they don't exist, just that I don't remember seeing one with a leaf.
