The Stetson One-Hundred "100"

Do you notice any significant differences in any of them?
All 3 are thin dress weight felt & very light with a good hand. The one with the raw edge has what feels to be the thinnest brim probably due to lack of a binding. All have a better hand than my 7XCB but it's a Shudde Bros REFURB so perhaps that may have something to do with it.

I'm still itching to put a diamond in one, though.
I may do that right after I change it to a wide contrasting ribbon...thinking a vintage lime green. Should give plenty of contrast to the Clear Beaver.

You are a lucky man to own one, but three?

Hurricane Jack: Anyone would be proud to wear such a hat.

Thanks guys for all the compliments.

You guys got me fired up this afternoon! Five Stetson 100s. In order of what I believe is age. The first two do not have plastic on the liner and stars in the liner crest. The last three hats all have plastic and maple leafs on the liner crests. Reorder tags appear optional.

I have also put in a quick crease on all of them, trying the same one to illustrate the felt quality.

The second hat I posted above yesterday in the thread.

The third hat belonged to Kyle Rote, NFL HOF. Plastic over the liner, maple leaf on the liner crest. The felt is smooth and holds a decent crease, even my bad one, but I’m in agreement with the folks who ask if these later 100s are actually better than the 7Xs.

This was my first 100 and I took it on a pretty high BIN. Would I do it again? 50-50 at best. Definitely not for the $400 I paid for it. Ouch. In my defense it was the first 100 I saw on eBay.

Final nail in the coffin? I really really do love these post-53 100s, everyone has to have one, but I can argue that every pre-48 hat I have is sweeter. Of course I’ll still take one on a BIN....

PS I’m in a panic on these sweatbands...

Number four came from Goodwill, it was painted here and there, it has worn spots that show through as blue, it has no inside tags, and it’s the one I wear most because I don’t worry a thing about it. The felt does not mold as well but is still very smooth, and to give it one more compliment it seems like a very high quality stiff-brimmed work hat. I’m no cowboy, but this hat feels the way I want a cowboy hat to feel.

For all my down-in-the-mouth comments on the later Stetson 100s, writing about this one really cements it as one of my favorite hats.

A 100 chocolate brown fedora. No complaints at all about this one. No doubt in my mind, this one is worth all trouble.

It has the rectangular white reorder tag, plastic on the liner but stars on the liner crest. Came with the box.

(The color is hard to capture)

Daniel...all fabulous as expected but the chocolate with the wide ribbon and felted edge is next level hundred stuff. I notice it was a special made hat. That owner knew how to take a top line hat and put it over the top. Bet it cost more than a hundred back then.
Thanks for gracing us with your collection.

Thanks for the comments, you are all remarkably patient with my Jekyll and Hyde relationship with the 100s!

Here’s to hoping we see more, and of course special thanks to the Loungers who posted all the information and history that got me hooked!

^^^I’ll never get tired of seeing Hundreds. It’s easy to forget who has what and seeing re-posts keeps the fire burning.
One and done may work in college BB but gets lost quickly around here.
Thanks all for the treats.

Good thoughts... everyone needs to buy one to experience. Also, the easiest hat to let go of, in my opinion. Nice to see a collection with so much wear. The ones I have owned seemed to have been been stored away in their suitcases like trophies.

I want to have a collection of at least one 100 for each brand that made one, Alan.
So far, I have Stetson, Dobbs, Resistol, Churchill, Cavanagh, and Knox.
I know I'm missing a MacLachlan, but do you know any other brands that made a 100?
