I'm just sitting here in my office in shock. 2016 has been a beast to music and artists. He was an incredible talent and fostered incredible talents. Good Lord, he's only two years older than me!

I remember my first encounter with him/his music. Saturday Night Live, this skinny little guy comes out in a g-string and trench coat. Our first reaction was bemusement. After his performance, our reactions were that we were stunned at what we just saw. Talented, prolific, original, and irascible. Everything you'd want in a musician and artist. I was lucky enough to see him once.

What a terrible, terrible, shocking loss.

I always viewed Prince as the true king of pop. Original, talented, energetic, humorous and fun.

He created music and videos so well blended that it was an amazing experience to see and hear.

We have lost a huge talent today.

And yes, he had a sense of style.

He never impressed me that much, until I heard that he was also a prolific songwriter for other artists as well. I believe he wrote "Manic Monday" for the Bangles, for example. He could turn out a catchy pop tune with the best of 'em.

Nothing Compares To you that Sinead O'Conner made famous ... penned by Prince

Stevie Nicks song Stand Back

songs for Morris Day , Cindi Lauper Alicia Keys ... etc etc

Prince was a PHENOM

and one of the best guitar players you will ever hear ... as well as just about any instrument you can think of

skip to about 3:25 in this video .... dude was a beast

You are still a youngster, Kiddo!

I agree, this news was a bit of a shock for many many people. God bless him and his loved ones.

Haha! I'm pretty sure it is, but he was a talent. He lived here in Toronto for a few years in a very tony part of town...

And yes; it has been a terrible few months for musicians!!!

Not to make fun of this wonderful performer's death, but I just gave up the thought of playing the banjo...totally!
