I haven't received it yet. Contains 33 page Knox ad section. I'll scan when I have it. Might still have "The Fedora".

Oh, I hadn't even thought of "The Fedora." Shows you where my mind is. lol Hope it's in there.

I'd post some pics of it on my head, but it's currently with Art being reblocked and conformed to fit the shape of my head. -M

I think Art said that the Knox 100 was pure beaver, while the Knox forty had the second-highest beaver content of Knox's offerings. Not sure what percentage it is. I'm pretty sure it's at least 20% though, because it's a very dense felt, and I think I recall reading that 20% is th minimum beaver content necessary to get that feel. If I had to guess I'd say that the "Forty" in the title is the beaver content. -M

Forty in the title is the price tag. Stetson & Resistol did this as well = having the model name represent the price you would pay.
I know a Stetson 50 was priced at $50 & also called the 7X Clear Beaver was 100% Beaver just like the Stetson 100 which cost $100.
As far as Knox goes with beaver content, I can't say but pretty sure the price & the model name went together like the other makers...

Ah ok. Well then I guess I'm just going to have to stick with saying its more than 20% beaver. If anyone has any deeper knowledge about this particular model, I'd love to hear about it. -M

Knox Forty

Another example of the Knox Forty, in a different style from the beautiful one posted above by Mulceber.

Crown: 5", as creased.
Ribbon: 13/16", with wind-trolley/matching button.
Brim: 2-3/4", with 3/16" edge binding.
Sweatband: 1-3/4".

The only marking on the sweatband, which lacks the typical hatter's information. Note delicate, tooled design at the upper border, and the extra layer of material between the sweat and the liner.
