Hey, resistol western hat guys.... this is at a thrift store. Way too big for me. Is Sheplers by resistol something any of you 7.5s would be interested in?

1969-1970 Ads Resistol Colt
View attachment 447002
Thanks Dave! About 1970 was exactly what I was thinking. The diamond at the top of the stencil appears to be wearing a crown, & inside the diamond appears to be the initials BR for Byer Rolnik. 1968 is the most established time for the sale of Resistol & the Byer Rolnik name seems to have been dropped & only the initials used soon after. I have a Resistol BR-20 & a BR-30 that I’ve always thought were early 1970’s. This ad helps to establish that timeline & the timeline for use of the diamond “O”. The $13.95 price is interesting.

I have info on another hat I’ll post.

Hi, Fellas,
Both the above hats are mine and pretty sure I documented at least the Colt somewhere within the FL. I've been trying to clear out hats I'm not wearing I haven't bought many what with gigs returning etc. I completely missed that 3 or 4" of thread was missing on the TenNinetyFive's sweat so depending on what buyer wants to do that guy might be coming home (fortunately that one fits ; ) If anyone's interested in either of these two shoot me a PM. Meanwhile it's nice to make a post and hope everyone's well out there wherever you are.

I really like this style of hat for fly fishing and am thinking of putting it into rotation. As a bonus it comes with a 6 month supply of fly tying material. It is a 10X beaver so likely won’t go beyond wear in local fly shops or other safe environments. ;-)

I haven't seen many of these posted, so I figured I'd do so. Just got this 707, in black, off of the ebays. It is in pretty sweet condition, and is actually a loose-fitting 7 1/8. Self conforming? Does that mean that it was grow or lose headband depending on the being wearing it? Is this alien tech? I certainly hope so. I'd be all jazzed about that.

Kidding aside, for the el-cheapo price I paid for it, it is in terrific condition (looks NEARLY new after a good brushing -still needs a bit more - and shaping). Is there a vaccine or something for this HAS (Hat Acquisition Syndrome)? I have a fever, and the only cure is MORE HATS...

Nice catch. Looks like a short brim. Is it? Has a nice 60s vibe to it.

No vaccine for HAS, thankfully. You're right about the cure though :)

It is a pretty stingy one. 2inch. Luckily for me, I'm a little guy. So, I can pull off the 1 7/8 - 2in brim and it doesn't look TOO tiny. I have one 1.5in hat, and it's too much even for my build. But, yeah, as long as I can come up with a way/place to store them, I think it behooves me to get more... I can't let the fever rage too hard!

Also, I noted that I had failed to upload the label pic. So, doing that here... It doesn't add much, but... for posterity or something... :p

Looking for info on this Diamond Horseshoe Imperial Beaver. My searches on this site and elsewhere have been unproductive. I’ve found other Diamond Horseshoe hats but none are “Imperial”. There is a very faded label inside the sweatband that appears to say “A9103 Rancher”.

Any ideas as to the level quality of the beaver and to the age of this hat?

Thanks for your help!

Bill
