Hello I am new! Can anyone assist me on a date range for this vintage Resistol Diamond Horseshoe? My Gpa just passed it down to me.

Welcome! This is a great place with lots of shared knowledge.

Your hat looks very recent to me, but this is not a model I know anything about. Anything handed down from family is a treasure.

Resistol still makes this model, but I don’t know if it’s the exact same hat. The current Diamond Horseshoe is part of the Premier line and is listed as a 15X.

Thanks Info and Welcome. I know they made the DH for years, stopped and picked back up recently. I also know this predates the current run. I have seen anywhere from the 60/70s to 90s suggested. I had it shaped to a more modern crown today and the old timer that shaped it though maybe 90s but wasn't sure. He said the 90s he thought bands were dark brown.

I can believe 1990s. Most here would consider that a very modern hat. Some of the more recently made hats are quite nice, but they just don’t compare with those made 60+ years ago. Our threads on dating hats certainly don’t cover those made as recently as yours.

Someone here might know more about your hat, but please don’t take any offense if you don’t get many replies. A lot of folks here think hats made after Eisenhower left office aren’t of much interest.

That is cool. I thought there was a way to tell by the band. Also style number is A9103 Rancher ticket H55156.

We'd have to know more about Resistol's catalog numbers and the like for that, I think. It seems those types of tags showed up in the 60s or so and continued until replaced by the newer tags with UPCs. General assumptions about sweatbands say that the gold printing and lack of debossment makes it late 60s or newer. My wild a** guess is 70s.

As promised, my wife's new Resistol "Pace-Setter."

Six inch crown, 2 5/8" brim, bound with wider on the bottom, leaving decorative stitching on top. Very nice felt, as with all of these older Resistol dress hats. Dense and not too thin; easily molded, easier with steam. This one arrived in nearly pristine condition. The sweat is in fantastic, almost unworn shape. There are a few light discolorations due to age, but all-in-all, a great hat. And my wife is very happy with it.

Older liner tip with the stylized "O" logos and an oilskin protector. No union tag.

Boy that’s a good one Jim. The ribbon contrast is super. The old Resist”O”ls really need more love around here. I’m betting you wish that one fit you!
I sure would.

Thanks, B. Yeah, I'm always complaining we don't see enough of these old wide brim dress Resistols, but I've seen a few lately. They made a helluva piece of felt.

My wife asked if I was disappointed it didn't fit. I told her, this way I get to look at it!
