I'm really wanting to get a vintage open road for my collection. I found this hat but to me it looks too new. Is this hat from the 60's or 70's? Can someone help? It's priced at around $275

That’s a lot for a hat from the ‘60s or ‘70s. However, it’s a 7X Clear Beaver and those don’t grow on trees at any vintage. I don’t have this exact hat so I can’t speak to it’s qualities. I do know that at your size you should be able to find an older 3X or similar that will be a great hat.

I’d be willing to give the newer 7X CB a chance, but that’s just me. Although, it seems like top dollar for a hat in that size from that era...maybe make a lower offer?

It's a 7X Clear Beaver Quality Open Road, likely late 60's-early 70's with the box. There are OR's and 7X Clear Beavers but they didn't always cross paths. The two together is nice. The last of it's kind but still a very desirable hat. I have a similar one from the same era and am happy with it. My size. If you don't want it pm me the contact info.

Worth every bit of the $250-275 range price. You might stumble onto one in a Thrift store someday but it won't be Mint if that ever happens. Can you cross somewhere & pick it up?

I always look at it like I can make $275 back next wk but I can't find a 7XCB OR if I really want one.

I figured it wouldn't be hard to find and knew asking you folks was a bit of a risk haha, thanks for letting me get it Bamaboots. It's my first vintage hat. Had a nice little quarrel with the wife for a few minutes before I wore her down enough so I won't be sleeping in the spare room tonight.

If I decide it's not for me I feel you are the rightful next owner so I will be sure to pm you
