Picture taken in the early 60's of George Lawson Sr, a detective on the Fort Smith Ar police force. His son, George Jr is our local police chief. The family has a long history of police work with family member George P Lawson being a marshal for Judge Issac Parker and being responsible for the capture and eventual hanging of the famed outlaw Cherokee bill.

The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation
Gene Autry (in white hat), admires an ice sculpture of a bull with Lloyd Noble, oilman and founder of the Noble Foundation.
In 1939, Autry purchased the Flying A ranch in Berwyn, Okla., a small town located about 10 miles northeast of Noble’s hometown of Ardmore, Okla. Berwyn was renamed Gene Autry, Okla., in 1941 in honor of the actor.

Thanks Perry.

This photo accompanied a Ghost Dance costume along with a brief history of the Ghost Dance. The exhibition is well worth catching if you visit New York City in the coming months.
