The nicest comment I ever heard

So you were that fly on the wall when my wife first read that. OLD! She screeched, OLD! And then went into a very serious, unladylike, tirade of profanities.

:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap You are so perceptive. My wife actually said that if he had refered to her as older,
she wouldn't have minded in the least.

Old is one of those terms that led to duels in bygone days. :p

The following names that I have been called once I wear my fedora:

Kent (Clark Kent)
Frankie
Frank Sinatra Junior
Dr. Jones
Indiana Jones
Don Draper
Detective S

They may be cute nicknames, but it's the nicest compliments I can receive at this point. There was this one time I was at my dentist for an appointment and his assisstant started to vocally admire my fedora and was in awe that it was a "real" fedora (it's a Jaxon Pinch Crown in grey) and she started to tell me stories of her grandfather coming and going always wearing a fedora. To this point, it was nice to bring nostalgic memories of a loved one from one's past.

Classic from yesterday - I was wearing my ArtLite Silverbelly at the JetBlue counter...

JetBlue Guy - "TSA won't let you take that hat on the plane"

Me - "Did something change? I travel with my hats all the time"

JetBlue Guy: "Sorry, the hat is way too sharp to be allowed"

:D

One of the BEST of this thread, David! Moreover, it must said be that you encountered the county's ONLY TSA agent with a sense of humor!!!!!!!!!

The best compliment I ever got was wearing my new CRM Grey Fedora on my daily walk. A secretary I'd known over 30 years hollered for all to hear:

"I'm lovin' that hat Dave! Lovin' that hat!"

I smiled and gave a small tip of the brim. BMB (Black Man Blushing) for at least 10 minutes.

Cheers, guys!

Charlie, this was a Philly JetBlue guy, not TSA. The TSA people just screamed at everyone to move closer to the wall so they could get by - of course, if they did their jobs quicker, we wouldn't have all been standing in line there in the first place.

BEYOND hilarious, Worf!

Thought of you this morning when I started the day with a straw. I felt confident wearing that straw beyond "Felt Hat Day" knowing you were on the team.

One day last week I had missed lunch and was very hungry. So on my way home I decided to stop off at an old diner here in San Antonio and have an early dinner. The name of the diner is the Tip Top Cafe. It has been around since 1938 with very little changes to the place.

Just to set the stage for this incident here is a little info on the Tip Top.

http://tiptopcafe.com/

I was wearing a silverbelly VS hat in a teardrop crease. When I walked into the cafe I was wearing my hat but immeditely took it off and waited to be seated. When I sat down at a booth I noticed an elderly gentleman and his wife finishing their dinner at a table behind me. Next to him was his walker and an oxygen tank. I didn't think much of it and ordered my dinner. My hat was on the seat next to me while I read the newspaper and waited for my meal. A few minutes later I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up. It was this elderly gentleman and his wife on their way out. He was using his walker and his wife was pushing his oxygen tank. He was now wearing a Marine Corps WWII veteran ball cap. He squeezed my shoulder and said "I like your hat very much". I thanked him for the compliment and his service. He didn't say anything else but just smiled and squeezed my shoulder again then continued out the door. I wish I could have spent more time talking to him but it all happened so fast that I didn't even have a chance to stand up. I have a feeling that gentleman has seen a lot of hats in his day. This will be a compliment I will always remember.

The best compliment I ever got was from a teen who said, "That is one cool Indiana Jones hat!" I was wearing a Silverbelly OR. Oh well.

I didn't get the expected Indiana Jones comment with the Brown Fed IV today it was Clint Eastwood from a group of teens - I took it as a compliment :)
