The new Indiana Jones fedora

Ran across this as KOTCS was wrapping up filming.
A great shot of the new hat and I think Mr Ford looks like he will be able to pull off it off very well.

Well, not if he's been wearing it all day and the sweat has made it stick to his head.

Bad-dum tsh!

Yup, that is a cool looking lid. You're right, Mr. Ford will be able to pull it off no problem.

Yup I knew it... the shirt's too thick.

It's gonna suck.

Maybe Indy switched to a thicker shirt so it wouldn't hurt as much getting dragged behind trucks and things. You know, a little extra padding for his brittle aging skin. lol

Well maybe , but this time it will be more realistic in regards to the clothes Indy wears. Steve commented at COW that this time around they were having Ford wear clothes that were more in line with what an actual adventure person like Indiana Jones would wear in real life conditions. So this time the jacket is made from cowhide and not lambskin. Steve and Marc provided 100% beaver felt fedora's for Indy not rabbit like the HJs were. The thicker shirt may be another aspect of that line of thinking.

Steve has had to replace all the hats he has made for the stunt doubles as they have all been hurt and unable to continue and the replacements had different hat sizes. So the movie should be awesome. We Hope.

At any rate, I got on the waiting list to have one of Steve's Crystal Skull fedora's.

lol

Are you sure it's the shirt that's gotten thicker and not that Mr Ford, has, uh, y'know...... thickened a little himself? :p

I think it's kinda cool that there will be some little variations in the costume here and there - it seems to me only reasonable that in the intervening twenty odd years since Last Crusade, Indy might have gone through a hat and a jacket or two. ;) Cowhide makes so much more sense.... horse, ISTM, would have been a likely choice back in the day too. I don't know why they went for Lamb, but I'd always assumed that it was for a deliberate reason - maybe they liked the way it draped, but also consider that there were a lot of action sequences in the films while he was wearing the jacket, so something light and soft would facilitate greater ease of movement. Also, they were generally filming in some pretty hot climates - horse or cow would be uncomfortably hot in the desert during the day. Maybe they also went with lamb because being softer is distresses easier for the very-broken-in look that the jacket has on screen. I'll be interested to see in time whether there are any other variations in the jacket in this one as there were between the other films in things like length / studs on the storm flap, collar size, etc. I've wanted an Indy jacket for a long time, probably going to stick with a Wested. I'd decided to go for the Raiders version as that was the "original", though i plan to order it with the larger internal pocket from the Lost Crusade - designed to fit the Grail diary (and hopefully for my purposes a regular novel). Funnily enough, being a guy who likes my leather tough, I'd already decided that I would request one in a good tough cowhide, so there's another film I'll be combining an element of into my Indy jacket. :)

I'm due to go to Beijing for a week again with work in May/ June 08.... if I can manage it, I'd love to do a day trip out to the Wall / Ming Tombs again with an Indy jacket and hat for some photos. lol

RBH - if I get some suitable photos, I'll certainly post them on here. :)

BTW, forgot to say earlier, but I noticed that while he has a nice hat on.... you'd think he'd have made more of an effort with the boots, I doubt they've ever seen a polish brush by the look of them! :p

Soon as I heard my favorite hat maker Adventurbilt won the contract for Indy 4 I ordered my second last Dec. 2006.

When I get it, by the end of the year I was recently told, I will have waited a year. And worth every bit of waiting.

Looking forward to seeing photos of that when you do..... I think I'll have to "settle" for a Fed Deluxe, myself. ;) Got to decide which bash, though - Raiders idol-grab was winning, but I also really like the look of the new hat. I doubt I could justify both!

If its just the bashes you're wanting, You could always get two regular feds instead, in different colours, for different occasions. Hatsdirect shipping is cheaper if you buy more than one hat at a time If I get a second Fed, it won't be another Dlx, because I already have a black hat (my Rusty), and if I got another brown I'd have two identical hats, which would officially make this whole thing a "hat problem".

I think my second Fed will be a tawny fawn. In a while.

I'm gonna have to order one of those before the price goes up.:eusa_doh: I wonder what brand of cigar that is?[huh]
If I could enlarge the photo some more, I'd venture a guess as to the cigar.
But when I click on it, I get an ImageShack upload page.

Wow! That looks like a much heavier Indiana Jones. I hope he does not fall and break a hip. ;)

Makes me glad I bought my Adventurbilt a few years ago. Even though they are worth a wait, the waiting time would keep me from going there today.
