Has anyone ordered this yet or even better, has anyone received one yet? I like the idea of a single breasted Barnstormer as double breasted is just a bit too much and a pain to wear since you need to leave it buttoned up. This one looks almost as good and is more practical.

What is really unusual is the built in waistcoat. It looks great but I might like it better when I have a choice of linings and leathers.

I predict a success here, though i don't know if I'll pull the trigger myself.

I like the idea of it, and like jackets with removable layers. That said I'm not fond of the traditional cut of the waistcoat inside the jacket, it looks a little out of place to me. I think I would've preferred it, personally, if they had made it with a higher neckline more or nearer the style of their shackleton.

I like it from the outside, though it's not pretty it is impressive. Definitely a good alternative to the Barnstormer as said already.
However, I don't get the point of a built in waistcoat and I don't think that one looks nice, but that's partly due to the colour(s).

It's just an extra layer without the option of removing it, which is one of the key positives of layering, I would say.
If you want to wear a waistcoat with a coat, just wear a waistcoat then put on a coat. If someone you know stitched their waistcoat into a leather overcoat you'd think they were deranged.

There should just be an option to have it without the waistcoat at a lower price.

That Franken-jacket monstrosity should never have been made.
With all the awesome jackets aero make, why did they feel the need....?

Just my opinion, obviously.

I just noticed this:

"we've grafted a set of matching waistcoat fronts into the side and shoulder seams of the lining"

If i understand it correctly you don't actually get a separate waistcoat that can be worn alone or attached to the coat, but two half waistcoats attached to either side!
This makes no sens...

I admire the execution, but i wonder why anyone would want that in a jacket. I mean, i can't imagine this being practical. You can't really use the waistcoat unless you are wearing a shirt with nothing on top of it, which wouldn't really happen! If it is cold enough to need an extra waistcoat underneath such a coat, odds are you would be wearing a jumper or a suite underneath anyway...
Also if you decide to not "wear" the waistcoat you only ever get a double layer at the front or at the back depending how you wear it, which defeats the purpouse of having more layers....
I could understand offering a waistcoat matching your jacket lining, that could be attached to the coat (a bit like the Schott removable fleece lining) as an extra, but to do it this way is just weird.

It just doesn't feel like a well thought out idea.

If that is this case then, yes, rather pointless.

I've got a couple of winter/bad weather jackets with removable liners and they are generally my most worn jackets over a winter, more as when travelling you have two jackets in one, or at least, a lighter version of your chosen/favourite jacket.

I think it is a re-creation of a 1930's car coat that I recall seeing as being auctioned on Ebay for over $2000 so may well appeal to collectors/motoring enthusiasts

The waistcoat is odd but it doesn't bother me since if I need to use it for warmth, the jacket would be closed anyway.

I would also drop the fur collar, which looks nice in pictures but isn't my style.

The most exciting thing to me is that Aero has a single breasted Barnstormer.

The waistcoat can be buttoned into the lining or behind the jacket comfortably - I've tried it on, so I can vouch for that. I would imagine that the waistcoat would be attractive to those who regularly wear their jackets open - there are lot here - but still want something to keep them a bit warmer.

I don't imagine I'll end up buying one, but it's still nice to see Aero carrying on producing "new" reproductions of original designs. I saw this one at Goodwood. I can see it being great for being outside all day when you might want to open v/ close / just have that little extra coverage from your jacket at different times. I can see it appealling more to someone who spends all day outside rather than as an outdoor coat to be worn when travelling from place to place. I love the mouton collar - eventually I'm planning to have one of those, as long-pile as possible, on a barnstormer.

I actually love this design, very similar to the vintage Penny's single breasted barnstormer I've long obsessed over and posted pics of here. The built in waistcoat actually appeals to me, although I'll admit I don't understand why you'd button it in back as opposed to the sides when not in use......The question for me would be the material I'd choose for the vest, any plaid is too much commitment for me. Something black/brown or grey would be more versatile, for my wardrobe anyway.

That looks lovely, much, much prefer the curved bottom and pocket layout of that one to the Aero as well.

I used this very picture to have a single breasted barnstormer made by Aero a few years ago. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me but I would definitely be interested in a Blizzard.
Not sure about the waistcoat and would just prefer the blanket lining. Seal Vicenza, sheep collar, blanket lined. Nice.

It must be possible to redner it in something else. I imagine a moleskin would be nice, or perhaps a Harris Tweed.

Is the bottom of that jacket actually curved, or is it just the way i is lying / has broken in over time?

Sounds similar the the spec I've been thinking of for a Barnstormer... I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for Aero to produce a Blizzard without the waistcoat if yuo asked nicely.... I imagine it depends whether it would involve any significant adaptation to the pattern, or if it would (as I think more likely?) mean simply adding a regular lining to the shell. Usually when Aero decline a mod there's a good reason for it - e.g. Denny posted a while back that some folks had been asking for the Premier HB collar on a different jacket, but they said no because the patterns wouldn't marry-up.

I bet the pockets would be an easy mod. I've always loved those mouton shawl jackets, especially the single breasted version. Even tho I much prefer the CXL I think the Vicenza would work out really well with this coat.

I'm dreaming of a combination of a dark cordovan hide, dark brown mouton collar,storm-cuffs and some kind of matching blanket lining.....
