Will you attempt to always be glamorous, or will you reach a point one day when you put on a muumuu and opt for comfort over fashion? If yes, what age do you think that would be for you? What made me think of this was the muumuu section in The Vermont Country Store catalog.

Well, Zippy the Pinhead always looked good in a muumuu, but not too many other folks have the panache to carry off the look.

Throw in a pair of fuzzy bunny slippers and a box of bonbons, though, and I'll give it a try...

Well I am not sure I want to be like my grandmother, who had to put on Tangee rouge and lipstick at 90 to leave the house for the ice cream truck. She smeared 2 dots in the middle of each (withered) cheek and a little cupid's bow. She also sharpened her nails into little daggers.

Then again, who want's to let themselves go? Some might argue that I already have. I only wear powder and mascara to work (instead of the arsenal that I used to). I also started wearing high necked blouses for work because I want people to look at my face instead of my chest. It has helped a little in getting people to treat me with more respect.

I can save the warpaint and the down to there blouses for going out. But am I going to wear a shapeless dress to hide a shapeless body? Not if I can do anything about it!

p.s. those muumuu's are more like Hawaiian evening print gowns, very pretty though.

Vanessa, those dresses, ah, excuse me, mumuus..are beautful! When I think of a mumuu...I think of this tent of a dress like was mentioned before, only 500 pounders wear, or really old ladies who opt for comfort over fashion. This is huge with me...having both grandma's that dress absolutely fabulous and NOT going for purely comfort, makes me want to follow suit

Me, I plan to become a chain smoking junk eating fool after 70 and wear a muumuu. I may not be easy on the eyes then but I'll sure be fun to be around!

Personally, I intend to be one of those rather smartly dressed eccentric old ladies with loads of cats. Not as eccentric as the ones you sometimes see wearing Barbara Cartland makeup (and clothes) but enough to not just be a grey nobody that blends into the background in baggy cardigans and shapeless skirts, like so many little old people.

Me too. I'll be the one with cats and wearing strange textiles from her many trips abroad in her youth (hopefully) or the one who randomly dresses like Lady Catherine from Pride and Prejudice. And a Vespa is in order.

You guys are funny. I think I imagine myself to be one of those timeless ladies the one where when you hear how old they are you go "YOU'RE HOW OLD? ". I think that will be fabulous. I want crows feet and slight wrinkles around my mouth and silver gray hair which I'll wear in the hugest afro possible on my head, (I'll wet it and let it get all curly from time to time). I'll wear fabulous clothes and fabulous lounging outfits and work in my garden wearing a huge straw hats. I'll have a couple of cats and a couple of dogs, I'll be the local beautiful eccentric.

My mother is approaching 70 (doesn't look it at all) and she likes to pretend she doesn't care what she looks like but, she's always asking, what do you think of this?, how does this look on me?, does my derriere look flat? It's funny to see her behave, well...like me at her age.
