Personally, I intend to be one of those rather smartly dressed eccentric old ladies with loads of cats. Not as eccentric as the ones you sometimes see wearing Barbara Cartland makeup (and clothes) but enough to not just be a grey nobody that blends into the background in baggy cardigans and shapeless skirts, like so many little old people.

Oh, I know what kind of old lady Ill be.

Ill be the one they locked in a home who mumbles to herself and talks to no one because of all my daydreaming I do now. I write children's stories, Illustrate children's books and often retreat into my own imagination all the time. I KNOW one day that line will be blured. Ill shout "There is a Dragon in my closet, and hes wearing my shoes!" and the nurse will say, "Yes Mrs. Johnson, I know." Then they will sit me out on the sun porch and Ill sip lemonade from a straw because they would have tightend the rungs on my straight jacket a little bit more.

Oh, yeah, I see it all too clearly.
And that dragon WILL be in the closet, streaching out my shoes. The jerk.

Well I think I will always dye my hair after I reach a certain age. If you want that cool steel gray color, it seems as though it helps to start out with dark hair. Mine, I suspect, will just go translucent. So siren red at 90 it is!

If I start to see too much scalp I will get a weave.

I will garden all the time and threaten any who cut across my yard. I will live off my veggies and blueberry bushes. I will address my roses as "my babies." I will have an enormous floppy sun-hat. And I will have many cats, a dog, and possibly a pet rabbit. After age 70 I shall begin lying my age UP, and my home will be so vintage some people will believe me. lol

It must be a regional thing. I lived half my life in Hawaii, so I don't see a muumuu as a shapeless thing for shapeless people. Lots of stylish ladies wear them in Hawaii.
