My bad luck. Living overseas, I had never even heard of "the most interesting man in the world" (TMIMITW) until Dos Equis decided to cancel the string of commercials. A friend of mine made an off-hand comment about wanting to be like TMIMITW and I said "who?"
Now, I confess, that I have sort of been binge watching the ads on the internet. They are funny and good natured and ---big admission--- the fact that its an older guy with grey hair gives me a sense of hope. Now when I look in the mirror I no longer see an old Elmer Fudd who is hopelessly behind on the latest technology and has no idea who Kanye West is. Instead I see a potentially interesting guy with a potentially fake suave accent.
Am I alone in this? Is anyone else going to miss TMIMITW? (I hardly knew him!) It also sounds like the actor who played him, Jonathan Goldsmith, has had a fairly interesting life in his own right. I'm running on too long. Anyone share my appreciation (if not my motives)? Any favorite lines/scenes that I may have missed? I'm still looking for the one-stop-shop where I can watch them all in order. Any little known facts about TMIMITW? Can you relate to the character? Or perhaps ---for those who have had to put up with him for several years--- his end is long overdue. (If so, forgive me. He's still new to me.) At any rate, I hear the campaign was quite successful for Dos Equis.
My wife said the next Ad series should feature "The Most Interesting Woman in the World" I'm all for it. Who would be the most likely actress?
Stay thirsty, my friends.
