Time constraints make us creatures of habit

I've got to say that I'm really enjoying Mr Chevalier's witticisms inserted
throughout this thread!

My routine parallels a lot you all have previously mentioned, drag my tired butt out of bed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, etc, but every morning I wait to hear the sweet little voice of my 21-month-old daughter calling from her room, "Mummy, Daddy!" I love that part of the morning. Sometimes it's at
6:45am, sometimes 7:00 or later, but whatever stage of my morning ritual I'm at, greeting her in her cot and seeing her smile makes my whole day.

I should also admit that I eat the same breakfast almost every day, Weet-Bix. Definitely a big part of my routine.

Sounds like:

The lyrics to A day in the Life from the Beatles keeps popping into my head:

Woke up, got out of bed
dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
and looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
Ah
:coffee:

then make tea. (I cant stand coffee, and a month in the UK got me addicted to tea... although it took me months of looking to find a tea as good as I had over there. )

Ok, Jess, give! What tea did you find? Surely if they have it in Virginia they'll have it in South Carolina.....:)

What time do you early birds go to bed? [huh] Don't tell me you have something in common with Bill Clinton: the need for only 3 hours of sleep?

I go to bed at around 10pm, so I get about 7 hours sleep on a weekday.

I'm amazed. Everybody else seems to be getting up as I'm going to bed. Ignoring time zone differences, that is.

I get up at 5:30.

I throw that day's apparel on, fix my hair, maybe put makeup on.

check email for 5 min.

brush teeth.

Leave house by 6:00 in order to have my 45 minute drive to work.

Arrive at work by 7 at the latest. Have breakfast at work, while working. Today its Thursday, so its Bagel day at work, but I also have oatmeal and other things in the 'file drawer of food'

weekends, my body lets me sleep til 6:30.....

Well, I started out with "Tetley's British blend" and that was ok except there was something missing... I've since found "Lyons Gold Blend" and thats the best I've been able to find here. I got it at Ukrops, in the International isle... but it was like 7 or 8 dollars. The International isle at Ukrops has all sorts of things from the UK... like Mcvitties and black currant juice (which you absolutely cannot find anywhere around here except there.) Then, there is the Irish shop downtown that imports a bunch of stuff too, but mostly sweets. I should call them and ask if they would import some of the bizarre flavors of crisps I had over there like "ketchup" "roast chicken" and "prawn cocktail."

Darnit, I just need to move!

So Marc, since you're asking about us being early birds, it's only fair you tell us what time you go to bed. ;)
The time I go to bed depends on many factors...usually I go to bed at around 11pm, earlier if I had a bad day with the kids. If I only had 3 hrs of sleep, no amount of coffee would do me any good, I need at least 8 hrs.....I get extremely crabby when I'm tired.:rage:

Hoot with owls versus soar with eagles.

In my misspent youth, I would regularly party with friends and close the bar at 4am. From there we'd go to the diner and have either burgers or breakfast and head for home. There I'd shower, drink more coffee and then go to work. Work the day and come home for a quick dinner a little tv and crash.

If I tried that today, I would fall asleep at work or on the way home, crash and die, no matter how much coffee I drank!.

Sleep blissful sleep.

Wow, you have such set schedules! Mine varies, but weekdays usually involve
1) wake to alarm at about 6am-7:15am (depending on meetings/activities we have)
2) hop in the shower
3) throw on a robe to make a nice breakfast for my son
4) check voice mail
5) do hair &make-up, get dressed
6) enjoy some quality time joking around with my son before I drive him to school
7) drive or walk to work (depending on time and weather)
Weekends I try to sleep in if at all possible.

Right now I'm stuck in bed thanks to hip surgery, but here's my regular schedule:

5:30 wake up, read or draw
6:00 get up, get dressed, use spare time to pick up room (doesn't do much good, my room is so messy)
6:30 eat something, read newspaper (comics first, then letters to the editor, then the news)
7:00 rush around getting snacks (lots of snacks!) and lunch food, filling bookbag
7:15 brush hair, teeeth
7:20 lose keys, shoes, etc
7:25-35 leave for school

And I like to go to bed early, 8 o'clock or so, but I end up (thanks to homework) going to sleep later, 9 or 10.

True, they didn't use to. These days, though, corporations (both international and local) are making them do so. The result is a people who don't want to let go of their night owl behavior, but pay the price in the morning. Executives don't get much sleep in South America.

Hopefully you weren't working as a brain surgeon or airline pilot in those days.
