Just got this at Goodwill. The felt is in great shape and soooo soft. I don't know if it comes across but it is a dark brown felt. Almost feels like beaver (but I'm pretty sure is would say so if it were). The "Premier" is on the headband, not the liner. I love Goodwill.

Thanks, gents. She's a beauty. And I'd find your local Goodwill and let them know you love hats. Sometimes they'll hold them for you if they know you'll buy them. I guess it depends on who is running the joint.

Gents I bought my first hat in about... 2 years or so! The college life is tough, good, but tough! That would also explain my hiatus from the lounge.
I found this one at a local antique place. Moth bites aside, it was a great find. Liner is in immaculate condition, and the sweat has a tiny scratch or two.
Have also posted in the Post New Hats Here! thread as well as Homburg Nation.
Pictures are taken in a different antique shop, which I now work at. Cheers!

I removed the old sweatband from the Mallory homburg I posted a few weeks ago and replaced it with a new roan leather sweat. The original was unreeded, but the new one is.

This is the first time I've sewn in a sweat, so there were a couple false starts, but I got it on securely, then re-sewed the hatband and bow.

Mallory 'Stowaway', being stingy brimmed and having a cloth sweat it's probably not the most sought after Mallory, but I like it.

Near perfect condition, and the ribbon has a lovely copper back tone.

I'm guessing late 50's / early 60's but I'm sure someone with more experience of the liners can confirm or correct me! Thanks in advance.

Believe you have a packable hat there Richard. The name and cloth sweat suggest it's meant to roll up and pack in your luggage. If that's the case it should be pretty light and pliable felt too. Congrats.

Very nice Josh. Do you know that Mallory is a Stetson brand?

This one arrived in today's mail. A very nice medium gray. Can't find a stain on it anywhere. Crown is 5 3/4" open, brim is 2 1/8" underwelt. The fedora arrived open crown - and I suspect it came from the factory open. It appears that it was never worn. And the felt, though dense, is extremely soft. Very little taper to the crown.

Anyone have an idea of when this might have been manufactured? There are no other tags under the sweat.

Orangegrad, your hat is 50's or newer. The evidence is the liner will say "1817" for the date and the silver paper size tag.

Thanks for the info. The sweat looks good but after a bit of wear it is evident that its dried out. It is literally falling apart on my forehead. I'll have the sweat replaced.

Mallory XV

Mallory XV: 2 3/4" brim with thin overwelt; 5 1/2" open crown with a 1 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and an unreeded sweatband. Not sure of the age but I'm guessing mid 40s. I don't know if the hat had an oilskin liner cover. There were some fakes that indicated it may have had one but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure this is a pre-Stetson era Mallory. If anyone would care to elaborate it would be much appreciated.

I still have a Mallory Ten that I've been trying to sell for quite a while in the Forum classifieds and on Ebay. For some reason it hasn't generated much interest. It's an Open Road style and is of superior quality to the majority of the Stetson Open Roads your see for sale so often on Ebay that seem to demand premium price regardless of the quality or condition. Just an observation on my part.
