The Hardy Boys: Secret of the Old Mill

Dexter'sDame

One of the Regulars
I loved the Hardy Boys books! They were more interesting than Nancy Drew, who bored me at times.

Edited to add: Most of the ones I read were probably the '30's versions--our public library was "old" and had great old books in circulation along with the new. I don't remember the colors of the covers, but I do remember asking my mom the meaning of various vintage terms, and her looking at me as if I'd come from another planet.

I also vaguely remember coming across some racist terms and being shocked by them, but keeping it to myself for fear that it may lead to the Boys' final banishment.

I read some that had the brown covers and were published in the 1940's the paper was acid and they disintegrated at some point. I read some that were blue and some with pictures on the hard cover itself.

I also like to read the Tom Swift series, those were neat sci-fi teen books.

Wow, I missed that link the first time around. Tempting, very tempting, but I'd better not...

Still, it would almost be worth it to find out if the plotline just centered on counterfeiting, or whether there was espionage involved too.
