Having a bit of trouble with the font. Its smaller then it was before, a size 12 font will make the text much easier to read on my android. Since I type in this size font. And when I zoom in it cuts off the page and I have to move my screen to read every thing on the right. I tried tilting the screen side ways to make it fit every thing and the site does not tilt the page.

I do like the new look.

I agree with the slowness in being able to try and type a response. I was in another thread and typed out a long response and do to the slowness in typing I was kicked off of the thread and not able to post my reply. The page kept refershing the ads.
I do not mind the ads but can these ads please stop refreshing themselves.

I can live with the ads, but the constant refreshing is making this site almost unreadable. That constant refreshing is slowing everything down. Please, could we just have a Premium Membership to ESCAPE all these ads?

That is EXACTLY my problem, too. Is there any way to block or remove all those ads? They are slowing my system, and making it hard to read the thread.

Perhaps a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP? At this point, I would be glad to pay a yearly fee for an ad-free environment.

Some folks have downloaded an ad blocker & it seems to work for them but being a cantankerous old git I refuse to download anything just to peruse a forum. I have found the solution though, since visiting the Lounge is no longer a pleasant experience I do so less often.

The constant-refresh may explain an experience I had the other day trying to reply to a post -- it suddenly became very slow and when it did accept my posting the post appeared nine times. I figured this was just a quirk of my antique browser, but now I'm not so sure. It's only happened that one time so far, but I'll keep further out an eye on it.

The ads appear to have priority so we're only one step away from Photobucket syndrome.

"One step away from Photobucket syndrome"... Ain't that the truth.

But I’ve found something to SLIGHTLY help with the ad refresh issue. On Firefox, I open TFL in a separate browser window and then RESIZE that window much smaller, so small that the right sidebar disappears. Most of the refreshing ads seem to be on that sidebar, and hiding it keeps the ads from opening.

The site still jumps around, but not as much for me.

Then, only open one thread at a time. I used to scan the NEW POSTS area and open multiple threads in multiple tabs. With all the ads on this new software, my system came to a halt. One thread at a time helps.

Not the best solution, but otherwise I would have to greatly reduce my visits to TFL.

Personally, I enjoy the overall experience here too much to complain about the interface.
The only notable difference for me (beside the visuals) is that the mobile side is a little clunky. The desktop version functions flawlessly for me with ad blocker installed (chrome).

Looking into what we can do about the jumping.
It's been mentioned here before, but you have my sincere respect and gratitude for not only maintaining this site regularly, but also for having to deal with the various problems that arise during these upgrades while trying to appease the members and keep us happy at the same time. I know it can be frustrating even under the best circumstances, so thank you for doing it.

What an IDIOT I have been. I never considered an ad-block would do any good.... I just installed uBlock on Firefox, and WOW, no more jitters and constant ads. I'm glad I started reading this thread. Thanks, guys!

I was surprised by how effective it was when I installed Adblock Plus on my browsers a year or two ago. I'd say it eliminated at least 95% of the ads I used to see, and some websites won't allow you to view their content unless you disable it, but I'm fine with that. This was on my laptop though; I don't know if they make a version for portable devices.

+1 to both the above. I use an ad blocker on Safari and have no real issues at FL and it is also incredibly effective on almost every ad-overwhelmed site.

Also, I was actually relieved to read that others were having the "jumping" issue as that means it wasn't something going on with my computer - phew. It's not bad, just a bit more noticeable than before the recent changes.

And, let me say again, thank you to Nathan and the others who work so hard at this for no compensation. Since FL isn't a money making operation, I try to keep my complaining to a minimum and just appreciate what a gem it is.
