O.P.A. Dobbs Twenty

Suede finish felt with spiral stitching on the brim, self ribbon, deeply scooped flange... shares much with the Gay Prince save the fancy decorative stitchery. 5 3/4" crown, 2 3/4" brim. Kudos to the US Postal Service for the care in handling a hat shipped only in its hatbox.

Thank you... and in the interest of accuracy, the box I photographed is not the original box. The seller had done a freight estimate for shipping the hat in its box at 70+ dollars. We spoke and she agreed to ship the hat without the box at no cost for freight. When it came as pictured I misremembered and assumed she had taped up the original box, but she had used another instead. I guess I'm not the only one with too many hatboxes. Here is the auction photo of the OPS era box:

I bought this hat not too long ago. Initially, I didn't really care for it, but it's now my favorite hat. It took a bit of tinkering with the bash, until I liked it.
The crown is 6" (open), 2 1/4" brim. Although I'm no expert, I'm sure the ribbon is not original, and I'm going to have that replaced, as it seems to be a poorly done replacement job. The pictures of the hat, while on my head are the most accurate reflection of its color. Any ideas on its birth year?

Okay, I have two guesses, Vic and Mustang.

Vic my feeling is that your sweet find is from somewhere in the mid 60's.

Mustang I'd bet that yours is a touch later, late 60's to early 70's.

But BOTH you gents please remember, I was wrong once before...
