1950s Dobbs Homburg Black 7 1/4

5 inch crown (4 1/4 to center dent)

2 inch black grosgrain ribbon

2 inch brim to curl with 5/8 matching grosgrain binding

1 3/4 brown sweatband


A real nice 1950s Dobbs Homburg in black. At 7 1/4 This one is a bit too big for me so it will probably be moving along to a new home.

Lots to like, but still some disappointment. The seller said there wasn’t a label behind the sweatband and that the “length of the head opening” was 8 1/2 inches.

2 1/4” bound brim and marvelous thin gray felt with blue undertones.

Nice condition with some light moth damage. It’s not my size so feel free to hit me up if your interested.

Thanks, Joe. I just wish the seller was more accurate with her measurements and more diligent looking for the label...it was just where I told her it would be.

I was only able to find ads in 1940. So they may have only been made for a short time.

Won an auction for another Dobbs Twenty. A Homburg this time. The ad said its grey...color balance must have been off on the camera. We'll see in a week or so when it gets here. I really like my other Twenty. Hope this one turns out to be a good one.

I imagine from the description it was a similar ultra thin felt to the early gay prince or cross country with no edge binding and a pug. Making a more casual impression

Post clean up shots of a super stingy that was too good a deal to pass up. The tag is calling it grey, but it looks more a silver belly to my eyes. Not sure of the age on this one....60s or 70s maybe....but the felt is thin as tissue paper.

Too bad so many pictures are lost from the beginning of this thread. It would be great for research. My Homburg showed up a couple days ago. It is gray not brown. I'm going to try to get some photos. I found the tags under the liner...but the data is faded and illegible. Its going to be hard to get a photo of the tag without taking the hat apart...

My Homburg showed up the other day...It turned out to be a 7 1/8 Long Oval so its not a perfect fit but its in beatiful condition. Can any of you estimate the age from the tags?
