Sweet! A "dehomburgization"? or was it a Bindectomy? Did you trim the brim to get rid of the stitching line from the binding, or just sand over it and hide it?

Nice work whatever it was, changed it from a shelf sitter to a anyday wearer, for most folks anyway.

Homdura, That's too funny, bindectomy is perfect .
I haven't come up with a way to totally get rid of the compressed felt where the binding and stitches were. So for now its just a combination of steam, sanding , and brushing.

Heres a Stetson redo that i just finished. Felt is a nice lt wt but Was faded and too small so I flipped it inside out , added a navy ribbon, wind cord, and relaxed the overwelt so now its 2 1/4, and gave it a diamond shape bash to fit better.

Great work Bond. It's so cool that you can turn it inside out and it looks so good.Do you have to do some sanding to get the felt the way you want?

Thanks for the comments. When flipping felt sometimes the inside of hat will be finished sometimes not, this one didnt need any work really as it was thin felt to begin with and finished nicely which is why I wanted to convert the hat in first place. I Had to work more sanding at the brim edge more than the crown on this one due to un doing the welt.
How did you like the patch at the seam on the sweat?

I popped the seam trying to stretch it and instead of putting in a generic sweat I decided to try to patch this one as its in overall good condition. There was a gap of about 3/8 that I covered by gluing the patch over the seam on on to both sides of the existing sweat ,this was easier than trying to stitch a piece in,It's an accidental experiment you might say.

Thanks John, this one has great proportions and I think it will make a good "whippet style" look after the brim is finished.
