I'm in the home stretch on my Maverick inspired T.V. Western hat. I finally finished sewing on the binding and shaping the brim. The crown is also creased and I set the hat aside to dry overnight. Tomorrow I'll sew on a matching black thin ribbon. I'm still undecided on whether I want to use a 4 ligne or a 6 ligne ribbon....here's what I have so far

No more hand sewing brim bindings. This is my last one. I'll be using a sewing machine for those from now on

Always impressed with your work, Terry. Super nice.

It's finally finished. I'm not happy with the pictures, though. It's hard to get an accurate picture with black hats...

I went with a 9/16 thin ribbon with a Campaign style and tails.

I reblocked this one from a size 7 to a 7 1/4 to fit me. I trimmed the brim to 3 1/2 inches and bound it. I was able to reuse the original red liner and the original sweat band bow.

As creased, the crown is 4 3/4 inches at the pinch with the rake sloping to 4 inches in the back. It's also creased to my preferred Teardrop.

This is a more accurate color of the hat. Unfortunately I can't get a good picture of the bow work just yet. I have to wait for better lighting...

Super look, lines, and shape to that conversation, Terry. Black hats are notoriously difficult to take photos of, but despite that, one can see the quality workmanship that's been put into that lid. You're the Hat Whisperer in my book.

Looks great, Terry. I’m also a fan of the campaign bow on western hats. Looking forward to seeing it being worn.

Thank you, Brent. I have one of me wearing it in the WHAYWT thread. The pictures don't do it justice. I have to wait for better lighting before I can get some decent pictures of it, though.

Thank you, Steve! Yeah, true. Black hats aren't easy to photograph, for sure. It's looks tons better than the pictures show.

Fantastic job! You have a real talent! Your western hats look great, and this one is no exception. The black with bound brim and campaign bow is a beauty!

Thank you, D dog! I used the old T.V. Western 'Maverick' hat as the inspiration for this one, (except with my own touches, which included the bound brim, for one).

I've bought my wife quite a few hats, but she only wears three.

An O'Farrell creased similar to your wife's hat:

A beater Resistol fedora and a Cripple Creek straw.
Love your wife's hats, Bob. On a side note, Cripple Creek is one of the few tunes I play well on my banjos [emoji4]
