Hello cap lovers,

I have not come the lounge in a while but I juts purchased a very nice Lawrence and Foster flat cap at a bargain. It's the first cap of this style I have as I'm more of a hat and 8 pannel cap kind of guy. Then I have a question. There's a kind of plastic stiffener in the forward part of the cap that buttons to the visor (see picture). Is this a standard thing in this kind of caps ?

I think it just depends on the maker and the way they want the particular cap to look. I have a Hanna 8 panel cap that has a stiffener that is covered by the liner (with the snap through it like yours), and a linen 8 panel cap that has two snaps (one on each side) and no stiffener.

Does anyone have any caps from Crown Cap in Canada? Specifically a newsboy. The pictures they have on their website are not very helpful in giving a good view of the hats. Not a whole lot of options for Canadian made caps so I would like to give them a chance.

I'm hoping to get back from benstephens (in order to photograph it) a cap I swapped with him - Dunn & Co almost certainly from the 20s or earlier with such flaps with double button fastening for either over the head or under the chin. It's a beauty, and I don't think I've posted it here before.

I did a bit of looking and wasn't able to find it. Did we ever get to see photos of this one? I'm looking for a winter cap with ear flaps* and it's always good to have a bit of inspiration.

(*What I'd really like is a USAAC A-1 Mechanic's Cap, but I'm not holding my breath.)

Greetings all,

I have two Irish caps that I bought from Ebay. One is a Jonathan Richards Motoring Cap. I am familiar with that brand, but was wondering if this specific cap is vintage. The label is one that I haven't seen before and the plastic over it gives me the idea that it's not a recent cap.

The second cap I'm attaching photos of is made by a company called An Cruac. I've never heard of this company before. I know in Gaelic "cruach" with an h means hill or mound but I'm not sure if the name of this company is a variation on that. The label looks very worn as does the rest of the inside of the cap. This one I'm also wondering if it's vintage, but also wondering if anyone has any information regarding this "An Cruac" brand. Whether it was specifically a hat and cap company, or whether it made outdoor/hunting attire or something like that. It's a mystery to me, and I'd really love help solving it.
