The Cap Faction

Looking for alternatives to kangol bamboo or tropic ( light summer material) 507 caps as I dislike the garish kangol logos

Greetings,

I, too, eschew logos.

If you're looking for a soft-bill flat cap, you might investigate Mayser. In particular, Mayser makes what they call a "Soft Cap" (sometimes spelled as one word, or SoftCap).

Last summer, I ordered the one shown here and am well pleased with it.

A few caveats:
(1) Shipping charges were fairly high from this vendor ($25, IIRC).
(2) This cap does come with a Gold 'N' Gaudy, logo'd temple button on the left side, but it is easily removed (a process which did not leave tracks, at least for me).
(3) The vendor also placed their own shop label inside the crown. This was printed on self-adhesive fabric. I was able to remove the label and virtually all of the residual adhesive, but doing so was tedious, and a visible spot remains in the liner fabric.
(4) The vendor's description is a little off-the-mark: According to the OEM tag (which I also removed because it is so long), the shell is 55% silk/45% virgin wool; the liner is 100% cotton.

Hope this helps.

The redesign is undoubtedly a good idea :D .

Yeah, but only if "Turnabout is fair play"...

I wear fedoras and caps...often the same day. I took this pic moments ago as I am heading our for obligatory grocery shopping. Off comes the morning fedora and on comes the Cordova Cap. Wool 8 piece enjoyment! Snug and tasty in the 38'F rainy, overcast afternoon.

A gorgeous cap in action sir. Good to see you enjoying the pleasant weather in your area of the Earth.

IG's are excellent companions. My sis-in-laws pack (3) are endearing characters.

Best, Eric -

I just received a tweed newsboy from Celtic Tweed off Etsy. Nice hat, great Harris tweed, well made at a decent price.
It has plastic in the brim and cloth on the band and I prefer the feel of leather but his price point reflects that. The cap is shorter/smaller on the brim and much less full than most in the slouch. A great winter upgrade from my baseball caps..
I will keep trying to master the art of uploading photos and one day I might get lucky and show you a pic or two.

A little while ago, I visited the Gemeentemuseum in the Hague and they had this space in the basement more or less reserved for children filled with a combination of art and design (furniture and fashion). There, totally unexpected, I came across this beauty!

Please excuse the terrible photos, it was in the basement as I said, and the whole space was designed to look like a museum's depot, so the lighting wasn't great.
