Old old old. Based on the way that the visor tilts downward, I'd say 1910-'20. Maybe even pre 1910.

This one should've went for at least that much as well. I believe it was adjustable to a 7 1/2.

New French cap. Remarkable fabric, and far too big for me. No snap on this one, which is interesting. The crown is stitched to the bill where a snap would usually be positioned.

yup, seems to be … The only real problem is the sweatband is a disaster. And the hat really needs to be cleaned; my sponge will be in use for the next week, I think!

My favourite thing is the light chevrons at the dark box corners. Livens up a standard box pattern

Baron, I have become a master at careful, respectable, non-invasive cap growth. Not just of the sweatband area, but the crown circumference as well. The photos will prove it to you.
