Yes, it's linen from a woman's jacket from Goodwill, and the buttons are attached loosely on these caps.

I've though about sending some old Harris Tweed jackets to have a few customs made. It looks like yours worked out well.

I think the dimensions on these caps are nicer than any of my other newsboy caps, and it usually only takes about a week to get one of these made.

It's Autumn here in the southern hemisphere, so time for some new caps.

I bought a Hanna Hats 8-piece cap in brown herringbone tweed about a year ago, and I love it. Loved it when I got it, still love it now. It's earned me many compliments and a little envy. I've been feeling the need for backups, so I've been looking at other cap makers. But I've come to the conclusion that for my money, Hanna is the correct choice, so I just ordered two more like the one I already have; in green and grey herringbone tweeds.

I've been enjoying the wool Hannah Hats I purchased over the winter and one leather cap I've had for a few years, and another leather one I purchased from a fellow lounger. Not that the weather is beginning to warm up, what light weight caps do you like or recommend? I've been looking at a couple of denim and linen caps, just curious as to the pros and cons of different types and/or manufacturers. Thanks in advance for all input!

I recently bought a linen Hannah Hats ivy cap...it's beautiful, but has a notable design flaw- it's lined with silk (which is a natural insulator, has low body heat conductivity, etc.). I wore it the other day outside in 70+ degree heat and I found it edging towards being "too warm". I was hoping for something I could wear in 80 degree and above weather, but this isn't it. I've relegated it to a "Spring hat" and it's great. Wore it in 50-60+ degree weather happily and comfortably. It's sharp. I'll post pictures at some point. Bottom line: Avoid a silk lining for summer wear.

Hanna hats are made for Irish conditions, I'd say. Not so good when it's warm, great when it isn't. The cap I have is very warm, and the main reason I bought two more now is that I'm going to want to wear them right through winter. Autumn is drawing to a close, winter is setting in. It can get pretty cold in Melbourne. Not Irish cold, but cold enough.

That eventually occurred to me...I suppose I was being too America-centric when I read that the hat was "perfect for the spring and summer months".

If anyone has any cap suggestions for hot, hellish American summer weather, please post them! This was going to be the summer I stopped wearing baseball caps...but I'll just have to wait until my hat budget is renewed next year...

In hot/sunny weather, I forgo the caps in favour of straw hats. I'd also like a nice linen cap for hot weather, but I haven't found anything workable either.

The Hat People linen cap looks to me to be a good choice, though I don't have one yet. Planning to order one as soon as I return home (in the next two weeks).

A couple of my new Hatpeople caps.

I have been busy and haven't had time to take pictures of my latest Hat People cap.
Carol was able to make this full cut cap out of Denim for me she had enough to make the cap.

I like the denim cap a lot I have a lot of caps made from various cloth's an I didn't have a denim one yet I have been wearing it to work a few times a week since recieving it.

Next Hat People cap was one I picked up from fellow lounger.
This one is an extra full cut newboy.

It side has a nice pattern cloth to match the grey houndstooth of the outside of the cap.

Nice cap the cloth is soft and drapes well with the extra full cut.
The grey color is nice and soft pattern.

Here is the two latest caps with a cap in brown that I have had for 35 years I bought it when I was a lad and I need to have it opened up to a 7 3/8 now its a 7 1/4. The small cap is a Cremieux cap I picked up at Dillards I have a bunch of this cap it all the colors of the rainbow. Its a very well made cap and they are always coming out with new versions every 6 months. Generally 25 bucks so I pick a favorite color out.

Here are two pictures of the Hat People caps together.
The Denim is a stiffer material so as you can see it stands up instead of collapsing.
Great to have two more caps in my daily wear armour.

Yeah, I am digging Mr Wise's denim cap too. I recently bought a grey heather hp cap. I didn't know whether I'd like it, but it is a stiffer, heavier wool fabric and works well. I guess that is why tweeds are traditionally used in flatcaps, because of the stiffness of the fabric. The softer wool fabrics that hp use are very comfortable though.

This was a couple of months ago, the fluff has now grown into a full beard.

It's grey weatherproof suede.

Thanks I like the denim cap alot. You see so much tweed caps that I am always looking for other cloth's to get a different look.

can not look like this guy's but I try.
I have always like John Lennon and his newboy caps that he always wore.

I was looking at the hp sports caps yesterday and remembered this photo, but after spending hours trying to find it searching the forums, had no luck and now I find it accidently! I might order one next summer, though I generally prefer caps with a roomier crown - caps that sit high up on the back of my skull irritate me.

Just got my Hat People hat in the mail today and here are the pictures. This is a blue linen with a natural linen band.
Most of my caps are brown and black or a tweed so I wanted a different color.

This is a summer hat so I will put it on the shelf till then.

I've stopped pulling my brown, green and black, birdseye weave Hat People Cap forward, because I decided I didn't like the pinched look. I just let it sit where it wants to sit now and have decided I like it that way. I have another full cut in the grey heather, which looks a lot more full and sits out over my ears about twice as far. I think it might have a lot to do with fabric, as when they are sat flat, both hats look the same in dimension. The brown one has become my guitar cap, and the grey one is my cold weather outdoors cap - the grey heather withstands the rain really well, but the brown one I found needed to be reshaped and became a bit wrinkled after it got wet.

I told Carol from Hat People I was looking for a cap with a bit of blue in it, as all my other ones were grey or brown or black. As you can see, this cap does have a touch of blue in it.
