Speaking of swords. How is your hand?

It is almost perfect and I can start training again by next week, or so. However, I should avoid intense grappling and harder punches and rather focus on blade work :D

Thank you very much for asking, MW!

Perfect condition. 5-3/8" crown. The sweatband has a folded over edge and ventilation perforations at the front. The ribbon has a twisted knot but no frayed edge.
The liner is from a local Jobber(coincidentally on ebay):

Bowlers as a "New Look" accessoiry in a a current German hat catalogue?

Just came across this while surfing for ... guess what .... hats. :D

Don´t know if this has got anything to do with me running around downtown Munich donning my Bowlers for over one year, now. lol

However, Mayser does some effort to reintroduce Bowlers providing it with a Joe Cool´s Jazz image. The only thing missing in the campaign is the actual Bowler hat. Why? Check out the brim curl. Same for the Homburgs. :(

I'd guess that it isn't a stiff hat...

Also the bindings are wrong. They have pencil and not Homburg or Bowler curls. I think the so called Homburg looks ok though.

Just curious, what is the difference between a pencil curl and a Homburg and/or Bowler curl?

My understanding is that a "pencil curl" comes up only at the edges (and usually all around), and if there is ribbon binding, it is only on the very edge of the brim. Homburgs and Bowlers have a brim that's flatter in front and back, but swept up in the characteristic "smile" on the sides. The ribbon on the brim is likewise much wider.

I don't know what is different between Homburg and Bowler brims, though...

North African Bowler!!!!

Here is a very well made, ultra light weight Bowler originally sold through Lieto of Tunis, Tunisia. I think RLK has got another Tunisian hat?

The label features the English royal coat of arms. Therefore the hat could have originally been made in the UK. Would not suprise me for some reason lol

Mora Derby from Milwaukee

Here is a Mora Derby made by the Morawetz Company, Milwaukee Wi. Was sold at Schempfs in Watertown, Wi. for $3.00. Schempfs closed in 1936. The derby is quite light and has an interesting air hole pattern in the sides. Also note the great "English Tanned Calf" rolled top sweatband with interesting texture lines. Also, the bow is in an interesting rearward location.

Is that a back bow bowler?

Awesome. :eusa_clap

Hi Bolt, actually its not a "back", its left of rear center. Very progessive! There is also what seems like a wind trolley cord around the bottom of the bow but no trolley button. Not sure if its just decorative or meant to be functional??

J. Hückel´s Söhne Wien Melone

This is the first one I have seen available labeled J. Hückel´s Söhne and probably pre WWI. Also the first I have seen made in Wien (Vienna).

The liner is removable and there is also a company logo on the felt.

In the case of my J. Hückel´s Söhne it appears the liner was removable or easly removed. Not sure why they would have put a label patch on the felt if they didn't expect the liner to be removed. It makes me think that some of the bowlers with just the patch on the felt might of had liners at some point. The ones with the vents maybe not. :)
