F. Witzleben Leipzig Melone

This Melone turned out to be great. I am not sure if it was made by F. Witzleben or contracted. The paper label doesn't have any company mark. The felt finish and color are special but difficult to photograph. My guess would be 1920s. Size 57cm and weighs 140 grams.

Here's my first ever Bowler, it's a 1930's British fur felt made by Moores & Sons Ltd, it belonged to the sellers Father who was an architect and surveyor....I think I look less trustworthy in it than he did.... I love the high true vintage profile

Thanks for posting the detail photos! Looks to be in great condition. I can't make out the first word under "The Zephyrus". I assume (Zephyr is usually associated with lighter weight hats) this is a light weight Bowler. If you have a scale would you mind weighing it (I have gotten on the kick of weighing mine)?

Thanks! Makes sense that it's a light weight based on "Zephyrus imperceptible weight". So far I haven't come across any that are lighter than ~ 115 grams.

Yep, that under 4 ounce bowler/derby is a holy grail hat.

The typography of Moores on the sweat and one the size ticket is the bomb... fantastic hat overall. Thanks for the photos.

Alan, What is the lighest you have encountered? I know Manfred's Rehfus & Cie. and my wool Negretti (German but not sure who made it) are ~ 115 grams.

Oh and the Moore Bowler I posted last page back is a featherette, extra lightweight. I'd assume his being labeled imperceptible would probably be the lighter of the two.
