Is that hat band attached like belt through a buckle? I've never run across that before.

Super! Both are really fantastic! The first one (Post Clo. Co. ?) looks really early. I haven't seen a band treatment like that either. Is it removable?

Thank you gentleman, I've got a few square crowned derbies and most of them are either a size up or down in terms of fit. This one fits perfectly. It even came with information on the original owner, a Mr. Steven Clinton Francis who purchased the hat around 1901.

The hat band is just like a belt buckle and could be removed it looks like. The brim on it is fantastic, deep swooping curves.

Anyone have more information on my latest acquisition??? I am unsure of date and even if Lelewer made their own hats. This one has a price of $5 under the sweat.
Cheers,
M
Does anyone have any info on this Derby of mine.....I really no nothing about this Chicago company, but would date the hat mid to late 30's based on the frayed edge ribbon and the $5 price....but I could be wrong.

Sorry - no idea.

I've always been shy of wearing bowler hats despite their unique and interesting curved appearance.

Unfortunately the social invective of Cartier Bresson and other surrealist artists put me off ever wearing one. I feel like I'd become a victim of social bullying by Instagrammers.

Growing up with these images in mind, anyone got any tips on how to man up and wear a bowler hat welcome :)

Only way that I learned how to get comfortable wearing them was to learn to not take myself too seriously. If other folks think that I look like a dork, that's fine (truth be told... I am a dork[emoji6]). I remind myself that what other people think of me is none of my business.

I just try to have fun with it. And to me, derbies and wearing derbies are a lot of fun.

Hope to see you around under a derby sometime.

Enjoy

When I want to embarrass myself I will find my baseball cap which I've not seen in over 10 years :)

My black panama and black overcoat and get bad enough comments asking if I belong to a religious order.

Mostly I feel comfortable wearing helmets though. Bowler hats don't say on motorcycles :)

Ha!

I should get myself a mitre for less formal occasions.

Wonder if you can find a helmet that replicates a bowler. That'd be cool as all get out...

From my experience they don't draw any real attention. Same with Homburgs.
