Its the only Borsalino I own. It is my most cherished fedora. Incredibly soft velvety felt. I don't know about its age (maybe some kind knowledgeable lounger may care to chime in:eek: ) I did a Lounge search on the store name where this hat was sold, it was from Bulgaria. What do you think folks? Could I join yer club?

So ... mine is a Como in a unique Grey/Green shade which I purchased at Henry the Hatter in Southfield, MI, during 1991. Still wear it in the cooler months here in AZ.

Am I in?

May I join?

Chocolate brown, stingy (1 7/8") brim, bashed and creased from an open crown as bought, used and vintage from Ebay. No idea of its age, any clues? And what type of edge might that be, it is flat underneath, slightly raised on top, no stitching visible.

The hat looks like the typical "San Remo" model. You could find out more by Googling "Fedora Lounge San Remo Borsalino". :)

Borsalino Como and Borsalino Diamante

I bought a Borsalino Specchio in a sale, last year. The initial feeling of the velour felt was great. After wearing it in some rain and snow it became very soft. Crown and brim do not keep the initial shape. Also the leather sweatband is low quality in comparison with the vintage ones :rage:

Thanks I am beginning to get the picture;) I wear the Como when I perform I have had it for 6 or so years. The Silk Finnish Diamante I have also had for several years wear occasionally. Both have held up fine. I think I deserve a vintage. You know, just to compare;) ;) lol

I bought a couple of vintage beauties off of Garrett a little while ago. I'll have to get some pix soon. I nearly bought a new Como last time I was in Bencraft, but the felt was so pliable that it wouldn't easily hold a bash. Is there some trick to it?

Hello all,

as a recent Borsolino ebay winner, I have a question?
What is the deal with the front edge of the sweat bands. Mine has this sort of corrugated insert sewn on. It is a very light weight Alessandria. Is it just a buffer to keep the sweat from your forehead from soaking the felt? I assume they were sewn from the factory like this as I see a lot of the Borso's in this thread are the same way.

Is there an official term for this type of sweatband?

thanks

There's a picture of an amazing pith helmut with a pronounced corrugated ventilation system around the entire sweatband circumference here -
