I won this a couple of weeks ago by luck; I just happened to be cruising the listings when this one was posted with only a $70 buy-it-now. It is a 7 1/8th with 2 1/2in brim w/felted edge. Based on Baron Kurtz comments about reeding at the forehead, I suspect this hat is 1950's vintage, but if one of you can place it further back than that, please help me out.

I am stunned by the quality/condition of this hat; it was truly well cared for by all of its previous owners (and I shall do my best to do the same). The seller's photos are still active on the listing as of the date I posted this:

It is hard not to wear this hat every day; it is my finest vintage hat.

After looking at this Gorgeous hat and the shape it's in......and in reading the "custom vs vintage" thread, how can anybody 2nd guess or question a nice vintage hat like this? :eusa_doh:

I'm looking for a vintage size 7 open crown Borsalino in very good condition. Various styles and colors are possible. I would consider a size 7 1/8 if it's not stretched out.

I have three that I wear all the time but am in the mood for something new. I put an ad in the lounge classified a week or so ago but to my surprise I haven't had a single reply.

If you have something for me to consider please send me a private message or email. I do prefer Paypal.

Thanks and Happy Holidays ~ Eric

Remember that the hats you're looking to buy are likely to be the gems of many collections. Exactly the hats that no lover of hats will part with. I have several hats that would fit the bill of what you're looking for, but i certainly ain't selling.

Thanks for your reply Herr Baron

I know that sometimes as people get new favorites old favorites can shake loose. So please do keep me in mind should anything like that happen.

By the way, somewhere you mention that you are interested in pre-1930 Bs. I know this kind of repeats my earlier question about dating more generally. How would one recognize a B made before 1930? Any suggestions? E
