The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Episode is a must visit for me anytime I'm in Paris. I've done fairly well from them before, but at the old price of €20 a hat! I bought a Stetson in their Copenhagen store, a Barbisio and beautiful Roeckel in the Paris one above, plus some others. (Not all at once!)

Sorry to hear about the bad timing of this, Windsock I hope if you go again, they'll have some. One or two I picked up felt (no pun intended) beautiful.
Maybe it is just because of the Borsalino's they upped the price? When I visited one of the Amsterdam shops last week they still had the old price for hats there.

Nick, I cannot thank you enough. I have lived in Denmark for 25 years and had no idea this shop existed. I can't wait to check it out! Thank you [emoji5]

There are a bunch of places in the Marais between Hôtel de Ville and St Paul (closer to the former). Let me know if you want the addresses and I can fill your afternoon with about 4 decent shops.

One I haven't posted before. Modern (1997) Borsalino in brown with a darker brown ribbon. Size 60 with a raw edge brim at 7 cm and crown at 11 cm at the pinch. No longer have this one. Nice colour combination and even though it's a modern one still a very well made hat.

Borsalino Extra Extra Qualità Superiore. Size 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 in US

Color Rutenio, ribbon is Asfalto

The plus is in the limited weight of a soft, lightweight felt
They are 92 grams lightweight despite the lining and sweatband.

The brim are 5.5 cm. and the creased crown is 11 centimeters

It was sold in downtown Milan, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele probably in the late 1950s

It seems new or rarely used

The felt has a very peachy and soft finish

This is a classic Borsalino in color, ribbon and shape

Another in the greys variation

Can't stop looking at that hat, Daniele. Superb Italian hatmaking. Rutenio is a great colour.

Recent acquisition, interesing Teresio Borsalino signed (?) display.

Small update on a recent purchase. I happened to come across a document signed by Teresio Borsalino to compare with. I'm no handwriting specialist however it seems to be a match.

I also came into possession of a letter from Teresio Usuelli to a doctor expressing sympathy for the loss of his mother. Mr Usuelli was the nephew of Teresio Borsalino and took the reigns of the company in 1939 at the age of 25!

Here's a copy of the letter:

Another beautiful Borsalino Daniele, like you say classic good looks. It always amazes me to see 60 year old hats in that condition.

A few weeks ago there were some posts here about Borsalinos in the vintage stores in Paris. Well, Rotterdam is not exactly Paris but they seem to have found a source for Borsalinos there too. Yesterday I managed to pick up 9 hats from the store over there of which there were 8 Borsalinos. It caused a bit of frowning in the shop, because new policy seems to be that there's a limit of two hats per customer (maybe my name gets around?). It didn't take much persuading however to convice them the hats were in safer hands with me. There was some more frowning when my wife found out I left the shop with nine hats but I convinced her it was (mostly) for the good members of the lounge I had to do this (I promised a few of you to keep an eye out). All of the hats were made for the German market, so "Export Qualität" and /or "Echter Borsalino". There is a bit of a difference because these seem to be more true to size than the Italian ones; usually Borsalinos in size 5 fit me, but these are a bit roomy.

First one is an Echter Borsalino fedora in black, size 59. Bound brim at 6,5cm and crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. Lined with yellow onionskin covering of the crown patch (love these). Very lightweight hat at only 90 grams. Lovely thin and pliable felt. This one has the corrugated spacer in the front of the sweatband. Sold by A. Breiter of München.

Thanks for rescuing those hats for us, Stefan [emoji5] I'm off to the Episode store in Copenhagen on Saturday. I don't aim to beat your score of 9, but I'm definitely hoping to come home with something.

I have to admit, Steve, that I hoped to find more hats to fit me but only three of them do.
