This Borsalino factory tour came across my YouTube recommendations. Didn't realize Borso was still felting their own bodies.

Not certain but it seems to me that while the narration spoke of sewing in the liner it certainly looked to me that the lady had a bottle of glue which she applied to the liner before laying it into a hat. $2500 and a glued in liner? Seriously?

I purchased this vintage Borsalino a couple of weeks ago. I do not know its age. All I can tell you is that the felt is exceptionally soft and supple. The color is grey (I think) with a hint of sage green. It does not have a liner.

If anyone can tell me anything about it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the lounge. Wonderful Borsalino! I particularly like the wide ribbon and back bow.

It seems to have lost its liner. The paper label suggests it's from the mid 50s.

Stefan @steur will be able to give a better estimate when he seems it.

Very cool find! Like Steve said: the label points to the mid to late fifties for this one. Could you take another picture of the label to see if you can get it a bit sharper? Might be that both the colour and the model are ones we haven't seen before.

Newly acquired Borsalino Lobbia.

Inside paper label says early to mid 1960s. Don't remember having seen the colour designation Zinco (zinc) before. Stefan would know about that.

Bought and sold in an establishment in Aarhus, Denmark's second largest town.

Crown height 10cm to the front crease. Brim 5cm, with a 4cm grosgrain ribbon.

Sometimes it can't be helped and the labels are like that. I still have the feeling we might squeeze some information out of this one though. Well, after you get a new iPhone perhaps.

Another Borsalino to share. I bought this a few years ago before the Pandemic. If you can tell me anything you might know about the fedora, I'd very much appreciate it.

At the time I purchased the hat, I did not know that one should order a size up for Borsalinos. Unfortunately it sits too tight on my 58 cm head. I don't know if it's kosher to ask the following on this forum (if not I apologize), but if I were going to put it up for sale, what would be a fair price? It's in excellent condition, as you can probably tell from the photos.

Great looking hat. Nice shape to it and I do like my longhairs. It was made after 1983, but judging by the liner it's not a very late example. Price is anyone's guess really; peluche is not to everyone's taste. Best to have a look at what Borsalinos in this size sell for by completed auctions.

Echter Borsalino "Export Qualität" "Ecosca ", FP 5 1/2, possibly mid to later 1950s. The "Export Qualität" designation was added in the mid 1950s and eventually "Echter" is dropped. This is a "Camber" form which was typical of the time and place. As expected great Felt quality that easily dry creases. The wind cord is of the old type with a mid width Band and thinner Brim binding. Excellent overall condition.

After seeing Alan's one I couldn't pass up on this Marca Colombo. navy velour, probably just around WWII based on the tags and style. I love that hand and quality of these earlier Italian velour.

It is difficult to speak about the quality of felt with velour finish made in Italy because it has never been a priority of the manufacturers. Certainly excellent velour felt, mainly short pile or Antilope or Pesca, was produced before the Second World War, then the supply was often made outside of Italy except Panizza and some small hatters (La Famigliare) which manufactured excellent velour felt until the end of its working days
