Borsalino w/coffin box in 5 French Point or 7 ⅛ US. 2 ½” wide raw edge brim and 5 ⅜” open crown:
That's a fantastic example you've found there, Brent. Always fun to see one of these, certainly because they seem to show up less and less. Nice work on getting it back to shape as well.

I love this hat.
Excellent example.
I have Ecosan but not as a Coffin box model.
Cool!!
That hat is incredibleThis “straw” hat was part of a large purchase I made at the end of last year. The hat is unbelievably lightweight! It’s made of “genuine Baku.” It’s very thin and feels delicate. The brim is 2 ⅝” wide. The sweatband is some sort of ribbon. It’s a US size 7 or 56cm.

Very cool find, Brent. Never seen one like it. A bit flashy weave maybe, but these baku hats weigh next to nothing, so ideal for summer wear. This “straw” hat was part of a large purchase I made at the end of last year. Brent, Really fantastic weaved braids (I assume they are braids). Haven't see that kind of work on Snap Brim Hat before.I like the conservative to the slightly flashy and this is well within my comfort zone. My concern is it feels very delicate.
It's certainly an odd one, Brent. I wonder if Borsalino made it themselves or if it was outsourced and made by another manufacturer. The written label could be an indication of that. Both the felt and especially the brim curve don't display the usual borsalino quality.Borsalino bowler / derby. I like the color, but that’s about it. After handling it I was sure it was going to be a Bollman (USA) made hat, but it’s not. This is a disappointing hat and not worthy of the Borsalino name.

Shame about that one, Brent. A grey Borslino Bowler would be something. That would make me feel better. The hat does not deserve to have the name Borsalino. The binding is also terrible and overlaps at the seam by half a centimeter or more. It’s already listed on eBay and I’m hoping the new owner won’t be disappointed.

Any sign that the sweat is not original to the hat?
It looks pretty original to the hat in your photos, too.I wondered the same thing, but I don’t see anything obvious that makes me think it’s not original.
Must make my way back to Rome soon!Nothing to see here. Just another early 1960s black Borsalino Homburg. You can't stroll though Rome without tripping over these.

It did come with a somewhat knackered box.
