Recent purchase, Borsalino San Remo. Seller said it was 1960's... But it feels and looks waaay to new.
What a cool find, Rick. It does indeed look in pristine condition. Most likely NOS. 1960's is probably right. It's not Antica Casa Borsalino, but the "cheaky" cousin G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro. Just as good btw. This must be among one of the last of G.B. productions if my memory serves me right. I can't remember seeing one so "modern". I have a G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro bowler from the 1920's courtesy of Daniele. Hopefully, he will be able to shed some light on your wonderful purchase.

Borsalino resurrected the G B Borsalino name in the 70’s if my memory serves me correctly
The hat liner logo does indeed look more 70s than 60s now I think about it.

Cool hat, Rick and a nice find. I think "big" Borsalino resurrected the GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro name earlier than that. I would have to look into it, but the various labels they come with, suggest it was as early as the early fifties and they were around until the mid to late seventies at least. The label with the rounded edges with the colour name was used between the mid sixties until the mid-seventies. So that's the timeframe for your hat.
Here's an early one (same as the Borsalino ones that were used until the early fifties):

And a later one (same as yours):

Another Borsalino! This one is a very dark grey or very light black. It looks like it was originally sold in Italy. The size tag is punti 7, so it's a perfect 7 5/8 American. I haven't had a chance to give it a good brush yet. Currently with a center crease and no side dents.
Morello (a type of horse) is one of my favourite color in that range made in the Borsalino factory

Here is the paper label for this one, Steven. Do you know what the handwriting says?

If I may chip in, Max. Perhaps the 'grafite' refers to the colour. Maybe the person didn't quite agree with nero, so went for graphite (grafite in Italian). Not sure what the first 3 letters are short for though.

Nero refers to the ribbon's color. That's why it's preceded by the letter C, for "Cinta".
I looked up how to say graphite in Italian, and it's graffito, with two Fs, so I am not sure it says "grafito"

Strange Max, my Italian dictionary says graphite in Italien is grafite. Thats what the word looks like on the label. It's what made me think that the person who wrote it perhaps thought the colour wasn't so much black (nero) but more graphite. Again, it would help if the first word/abbreviation could be deciphered.

Max, isn't graffito the singular for graffiti?

Borsalino Extra Superiore in Bronzo. The ribbon has a slight color gradient in Aligi.
Nice hand, very maluable, with stitched brim.
According to Stefan's tag-dating list, it is somewhere in the 1960s - 80s.
The eBay photo was so bad, that I got it for 1 Euro!

€1! Georg, congrats. That must buy the hat buy of the year, if not decade. Looks as super on you as it does on your daughter. Congrats on bringing it back to life, too.

The color is "Grafite" and was wrote by hands as many of the Borsalino paper label when they had to be quickly to send hats to the shops.
I can't decipher what write before, with a more clear photo I can try.
Interesting fact, Daniele. So the handwritten colour on the label corrected the pre-printed colour of it?
