Stefan, Thanks! Now I see the original owner lived in Dresden. Possibly pieced together post WWII? Also most likely an Echter Borsalino. Definitely an interesting find!
Hey, that looks great! Not for the faint of heart: Borsalino Serikon...lords hat? Some outsized dimensions: 6 1/2” open crown and 3 1/2” brim. Beautiful longish hair finish and a single row stitched brim edge treatment. It fits perfect so Borsalino is consistent with running a bit small. Here she is:

Steve, thanks. Yes, it is the most likely scenario that it was altered after WWII.Stefan, Thanks! Now I see the original owner lived in Dresden. Possibly pieced together post WWII? Also most likely an Echter Borsalino. Definitely an interesting find!

Really nice find, Brent. Not sure I'd call it a Lord's hat, but who cares, it's a super Borsalino in every sense. Suits you, too. Congrats. Not for the faint of heart: Borsalino Serikon...lords hat? I know what you mean. Some hats are hybrids. Thankfully, that's how hats develop. Yours can easily be described as a Homburg type Lord's hat. Whatever one calls it, it's a fantastic hat and one many of us on the Lounge would gladly own [emoji4].I agree that it has a different feel from a normal lords hat, but it also checks all the boxes for what defines a lords hat so...? I have a Stetson Bat Masterson that meets the definition of a homburg, but it just isn’t a homburg in my mind.

Borsalino Nutria XX lobbia (homburg) just arrived today, my first Borsalino! Color is rutenio with nero ribbon. Can't quite make out the handwritten style/model name, so I'll be digging around here for a while. Will get weight and dimensions after it comes out of the freezer.

Condition is quite superb on the whole. The onion skin is in perfect condition. There are a couple minor wrinkles in the ribbon which I believe should come out with relative ease. The body needs a little shaping as seen in the pics, but I attribute that to the malleability of the felt. I did play around with the crown a bit but put it back to open for the time being.
The fit is a little on the snug side which I was expecting since many others have raised this point regarding Punti sizing. Initially it was tight, but I found a strip of cork spacer behind the sweatband. After removing that the fit was better. With some regular wear I'm confident this will conform to my head nicely.
Having finally handled a Borsalino I can at last understand the hype (poor word choice, I know) about the quality of the felt. It's baby-bottom smooth to the touch and is so pliable. I've seen others comment it's like molding with clay and I would have to agree. I know a homburg is supposed to have just a center crease, but it seems to be such a waste to not do more with such a wonderful body. This thing deserves some curves.
My humble submission to join the Brotherhood.

Nothing humble about that one. Superb hat and you got it cheap too if I recall correctly. No going back now though. Great score and in Nutria to boot! I too am guilty of blasphemous behaviour as I prefer to put pinches in my homburgs......can't seem to leave well enough alone!
Bravo, sure looks and sounds like a very special Borsalino; especially when it's your first
I have several, but nothing close to that one yet.

Rutenio is the color. "c. Nera" is Black ribbon and handwritten is Gulaita that is the "type" of hat. No meaning at all.Perhaps @Daniele Tanto has a better eye than I and could graciously chime in.
