It isn't exactly clear to me what is on auction. From the previous article I gathered it would be the production facility, inventory and the Corso Roma shop. If the brand itself is not on auction what kind of situation would that bring if another interested party would buy the factory? The factory could not produce borsalino hats, because it doesn't own the brand name and the brand could not produce the borsalino quality hats because it wouldn't own the factory. I know that has not stopped other brands putting goods on the market that have nothing to do with the original quality or know how, but still.
Or am I missing something here? What does it mean that the court seized the brand name?
Would have liked to buy the factory, but my piggy bank came up short
Hello Stefan, the previous article in English and probably written without knowing the bankruptcy procedure according to Italian law, the real situation in recent months was very confusing about the willingness of agreement between the parties, judges of bankruptcy and Camperio, for a controlled auction to overcome the rocks that are well described in the article I posted

This i know..the last paragraph of Daniel’s excellent post where “the bank acquisition for 18 million Euros for the Borsalino brand...a brand put under preventive seizure by the court itself” sounds problematic at best and stinks to high heaven. Maybe i missed something but it has the feel of corruption at some level whereby the acquisition of the Brand name and manufacturing plant/equipment and staff has been made null.
Bowen the translation could induce you in a mistake, maybe this is more clear
"At the center of the judicial affair the acquisition from the Mediocredito bank by Camperio last summer for 18 million euros of the Borsalino brand, The brand was put under preventive seizure by the court itself to avoid the split between the brand and the production facilities"
If it is not clear ask and I will try to solve the problem.

Hey Doc. The Marque Grand Luxe 5x is a hat that will not disappoint!! They pop up from time to time on eBay. Totally worth waiting for. Imho. The 6X i have no experience with but one has been posted recently in this thread.
What size hat are you if i may inquire?

Thank you. That makes more sense. I appreciate you taking the time in translations to help us non-Italians understand.

I just bought my first vintage Borsalino, with Steven's guidance. I know I might have overpaid a little, but I wanted it. I asked for it to be sent to my brother-in-law in Texas, so I should have it by July 16th.
My Optimo Grank Lloyd Wright should be here at around the same time.
What do you think of my Borsalino? Steven said it is probably from the Simeon Zlateff find, so it should be 1930-40.

Greetings Doc:
I think that is an elegant Borsa. Very nice. Stefan steered you well which is not a surprise. Congrats on the first of your Borsalinos. Borsa’s are difficult to date and i would go with Stefan without qualm.

Wow, that’s a great hat! I’m glad it’s not my size or I’d have some serious envy.

I'm humbled to be waiting for something very special. 1890s Borsalino. This came from a collection of carriages and accessories for coaches and travel. The hat and the hat box was originally sold together at an auction in London during the 1980s.

I don't recall ever seeing one like this. The Borsalino logo on the sweatband is larger and missing "Grand Prix Paris 1900".

The liner logo was used in the German market around 1950-1960s. I believe it was reused from this time period.

Very impressive Max! Good to see you taking the plunge into a formal homburg style, you can never go back now. Great old Borsalino.

Hi Chaps, here's, a Borso i acquired last week, all the way from Mexico City made for the Mexican market. I had a wee conference with Stefan about this one and conclude it might be late 30s or early 40s, the latter is more likely i think.
As you can see by the size tag it's a 57, unfortunately the dame thing has shrunk:( bummer!!!.
So it's more like a 55 now. If anyone in interested in it let me no, other wise will go to ebay.
Cheers
Mike

Hey, I live in Mexico City, and I had no idea I could find something like that here. Do you mind if I ask how you found it?

I have yet to see how I look in one, Red! Not everyone does. I know Brent and you do, but what I really want is to feel a good vintage felt and compare it to my Optimo Silverbelly.
