There were a few really superb hats that I can no longer find the pics of. I was especially fond of Douglas' black Lord & Taylor.

Also would give a vote to HarplayerGene for his Navy Playboy, but I think it's pre-2009.

And definitely one for rlk's brand new Navy blue Optimo telescope - please point me to the photo!

Here's one that I had forgotten about, located while looking for a pic of the blue Optimo - what a beauty from thunderw21:

My navy blue number is a Borsalino Trionfo and yes, I got it a couple or more years ago. I can see the reason for thinking it's a Playboy - seems it was B's competing model with very, very similar shape/style.

Wow - this thread really took off, and I'm enjoying it!!

-----------

Yes, the 100ish year old Montechristi which came to me in a hand made steel tube will probably go down as my personal hat score of a lifetime. Being the one who holds it for a few years doesn't shift any real credit to me for how wonderful the hat is. I am honored to be simply the custodian of one of the finest articles ever to be made by human hands.

-----------

I know I'll forget some but over the last few pages a couple of Knox's (Marc and Jimmy), Bolthead's and Jimmy's Playboys, Mario's Peschel (LOVE THAT HAT!) and Charlie's topper really stand out. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Yep, I have a '30s Trionfo also, that has a similar crown/brim to my Playboys - but less side taper.

YES! That hat has loads of character!

I'm probably going to do a similar sweat-switch on my latest Playboy acquisition (must get under Dinerman's 2-oz'er :)).

There are tons of great hats in here, too many to pick from. ScottF's Schoble with the stitching throughout is fantastic.

From my collection I submit my Bailey of Hollywood:

And the Turgis I recently got from Douglas:

I put Gene’s Panama against the hat buy of the decade and I was envious when JTL won his Dobbs 100. My person best for 2009 is a Stetson 100

There were certainly a heap of high-quality silverbelly and tan Open Road-style hats displayed here this year.
