+1 and +1

I've got to spend more time looking at these later, but this little gem alone made me happy.

I don't care what they say, a different color under-brim makes it a freak. :)

I have to be glad I was not an adult between 1880 and 1920. I look horrible in those short brim hats. Then again, since everyone would have been wearing them then, I wouldn't look any worse than anyone else, right? Of course, there are other reason to be glad not to have been alive between 1880 and 1920. Wars, bad medicine, no air conditioning, disease, the Spanish Influenza, no McDonald's... I could go on.

Hi

There are several adds for Panama and Bangkok hats. I've seen Panama hats here, what exactly is a Bangkok hat? I looked it up with Google and have several ideas. One seems to be a light "boss of the plains" style, but with a floppy brim probably for women. The other looks like a Panama hat, but made out of a different material. Anybody actually know?

Thanks

Well google has 21 available editions to download into PDF format. I've spent a good amount of time today doing that.......all 21. shakesheadshakeshead

It seems that google will have about 10 - 12 more editions scanned into the system in time. They have the edition number and date, but no preview option yet for the rest. I am anticipating collecting all the editions. I think these Volumes might be the greatest asset for any hope of dating and locating production addresses, model names, etc, for early hats and hatting tools.

More American Hatter....

As Josh pointed out earlier. There seemed to be more of these coming. For those that didn't check back in, there are now 30 separate downloads. One problem is some with the same name have different content. I tried to lay it all out for you. If your trying to get all of these, you may want to doublecheck that you have them all.

Since I'm downloading all of these to my new external hard drive, I thought a bump of this thread was in order.

Great resource for early hat information.
