What kind of lining?

No idea whatsoever. It has shifted from FQHH to a lighter weight, which brings out the options for a lighter lining than cotton drill or tartan. I have some leather samples on the way. Tbh the lining isn't a huge deal. You mentioned sateen earlier and I did some research. Apparently some people say it's too humid/sticky feeling. I don't know. I may just request "surprise me". !

Nickel hardware this time around. I wasn't big on the brass with the brown HWM. Probably goat in this one, but I'm waiting for samples of mid-weight hides. Trying to do this methodically.

I went from the "Easy Rider" mindset to 1929 overnight. The hippie in me is fleeting. I partially blame the recorded Turner Classic Movies binge I've been on...Carrie also advised it being better suited to a slender frame, and it's about time I listened!

Isn't the workcoat the one that shows the lining in the little lapels? You couldn't have satin with that. Also, I don't know if "surprise me" is the best of all approaches.

That's the melton wool lining that comes standard with it. Opting for a non-wool lining. It's too bad it's warm here; that wool looks the part.

I spoke with Carrie and she said that you can have the facings (is that what it's called?) lined in leather, so people see leather rather than the lining you choose.

As for lining choices, my 30's HB in black Steer is cotton drill. Black Steer would limit you to a one-season coat in LA, 3.25 seasons in Iowa :) I have others with mid-weight wool lining. I find the cotton lining just a little easier wearing, however as you say the wool tartans are wonderful to look at and very durable too. I think that work coat design will be great for you there and you'll enjoy having it for many years Nick!

@ Nick "I may just request "surprise me".

This is just what I did with my jacket. I asked Amanda to let the machinist pick out the cotton drill lining she liked best for the jacket. It's seal brown jerky horse, and she picked out the dark olive drill. It's perfect. I also asked Amanda to pick out a strong, cozy tartan for the handwarmer pockets, and she picked out a nice brown and turquoise plaid. Small details, but they make the jacket more special.

It's kind of fun that way huh? . I'm having Carrie/Aero do the same for the lining/buttons. My brain has already worked too hard, and I'm not fussy on the details. It's fun to plan and get carried away with the options, but it's equally maddening. I did mention the leather lapel facings though. Good call.
