If a "guy" won't do the little, right things while dating, guaranteed he won't do them once married. Find a "man" who will treat a lady as she should be treated.

You got that right. Marriage creates its own strains and if you can't figure out the little things while dating it won't get easier after you're married.

she got a stomach virus Vday night actually. Most of our special alone time was spent with me on the couch holding a bucket for her to spew in and making sure she didnt get any in her hair...I was pretty sick too so at least we were ill together

There's a Hallmark (by way of Gary Larson) Valentine's Day card idea.

TRUE LOVE means you'll clean up her puke.

Great thing to consider... unless both of you don't believe in marriage.

The same is really true on the dating front as well. Men, or women for that matter, are not going to wake up one morning and simply realize they should be more thoughtful.

panamag8tor...that was very nice of you. you're not just a sweet guy, you're a thoughtful human being. not many people will do much to lift the spirits of a simple acquaintance. :eusa_clap

For Single Person's Awareness Day I got...yarn for my knitting addiction, bottle of wine, expensive bread and cheese and chocolate, and a lovely episode of Lost starring Sayid *sigh*. Boy, I sure am the best Valentine ever! lol

Hey Panama Gator,

You da man!

Every year I get my girl flowers and two cards, one silly, one sincere! I leave them on the kitchen table so she sees them when she comes down in the morning. Every year she says I shouldn't do it and she never gets me anything because Valentines Day is just a Hallmark Holiday.

So, this year, I took her words to heart and I didn't get her any card or flowers with the thought that I'll do it on just a regular day, not a Hallmark day.

Sure enough! I came down on V-Day this year and there on the kitchen table was a card for me and a new bottle of Mont Blanc 'Individual' nicely wrapped for me.

Now how do explain that? After years of trying, I still come off looking like a heel! Ya just can't win wit dees dames, I tell ya!

As she should!

Great bartender story. Great vomit story too.

I was studying frantically, at home all day, and wasn't going to spend $30 for roses. I picked wildflowers from our hill, put them in water, and made a valentine out of red construction paper, written on in ink from a dip-pen. In handwriting, which I never normally use but which the nuns beat into us until it was perfect. Mrs Doran loved them.

That is WAY more romantic than a store bought card and overpriced roses!!! I look forward to meeting this lucky lady (tomorrow?).

I didn't get a lot this year - but since I blew the head gasket on the van, the budget became a bit constrained. Plus, the Birthday being so close to Valentine's doesn't help... but after 16 years, having one miss is OK.

But I agree, nothing? No card, flowers, nothing? Que triste! PanamaG8tor is indeed the sweetest guy ever.

I feel that as a fellow Swede I have to step in and defend Paulas boyfriend. Valentine's Day is not much celebrated in Sweden, it is considered an American tradition ( Yes, I'm sure it's celebrated in other cultures as well.).

Husband gives cards to co-workers but not wife

You guys are making me look bad. I didn't give my wife a card. The lousy excuse is I couldn't finda decent one so I was going to get her one on the 13th. She wound up not working and was with me all day so no surprise card. Luckily I did have jewellry already bought and wrapped to give to her in the morning.
I did, however, give cards to my co-workers. I miss the grade school tradition of giving cards to all the boys and girls in class. I have one customer that calls me Clark Kent and one that calls me Smallville so I bought a box of Superman valentines. I left one on each co-workers shelf. If I didn't take the day off to take my wife to dinner and the cinema, I probably would have given the childrens valentines to customers too.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

I've actually never recieved any gift ever on Valentine's day. Never expected to either.[huh]
But now that he knows it's important to you, I'm sure he'll make an effort next Valentine's day. And hopefully everyday until then.:)
