you had to expect a make-over...

just hope she doesn't turn into the sterotypical 'overnight celebrity' we are all familiar with from films and such...

generally going crazy with her new found fame and completely deviating from the character we all saw and loved from that first performance...swirling down the toilet of flash and pizzazz...amy win-o comes to mind...

oh well. she still is beyond remarkable and I still want a cd.

She also got her eyebrows tweezed too; and some other lady-like things done which I won't mention out of respect.

Susan is not as quite unknown as people would like to think. First of all, she is quite well known in her area, and she had already competed (and lost the opportunity) to be on a TV variety show.

She was offered a chance once, but was taking care of her aging parents. The talent scouts of BGT scouted her and asked her to come on the show shortly after her mother's death.

And for the record, she admits that she has had "a couple years" of singing lessons, but as a wanna-be professional singer who took private lessons for many years, let me tell you she took more lessons than that to achieve her skill and talent. Cry Me A River shows off a very talented singer (it's harder than people think); and she had to compete to be on that CD too.

She is absolutely wonderful and now in hard competition with another singer named Shaheen Jafargholi who is also not an unknown (he was starring in a show portraying Michael Jackson):

I really hope she wins.

Susan Boyle is awesome. She blew me away with her voice on tv. It was pretty mean how everyone was making fun of her, and Simon had his doubts, but then she put em' in place with a spectacular version of "I Dreamed a Dream".
Her voice is beautiful, what a gift.

To put a vintage tint on this, I liken her and her sudden stardom to Ella Fitzgerald. By standards as to what a singer was suppose to look like, Ella was ugly. And because of that stigma, people made assumptions on her talent, until they heard her sing. And now shes considered one of the greatest vocalists in history.

You could apply that scenario to this woman. Perhaps like Miss Fitzgerald, she will prove that looks dont equate amazing talent.

I have nothing against her fixing up. What woman wouldn't want to if the spotlight was on her. The lady judge stated in the article she did not want her to change but oh well. She is like fresh air all around.

It was fairly plain that she had a voice coach, but that was perfectly ok with me. You don't learn to develop natural talent like that singing in the shower. She had me in tears.

As for her "makeover", doesn't really matter, as long as they don't try to overdo it by putting her in skimpy outfits and try to make her look like a sex-pot. I get tired of that even on women with bodies like the proverbial brick outhouses, e.g. I haven't seen her lately, but I remember some of Cher's outfits were just horrible.

On another subject, just how "old fashioned" was the dress she wore? I'm assuming it wasn't a genuine antique, but styled after a vintage fashion. Any ladies familiar with this care to comment? (Don't worry, I'm not looking for one like it, haha!)

On the dress it is in the second link I posted. Her original explosion on the scene. It looks like a vintage brocade number at first but the sleeves show it is probably newer.

It irritates me to see how much media coverage she is getting. It's nothing against her. But this whole story has its roots in a perception that good looks = talent and that she is rare and amazing for having one and not the other.

cannot decide if I am mad at the media for sending her to a place to rest or if it is part of the spin. :eusa_doh:

I look hard for bright spots in this life and she is one. I wish her all the best.

ive read through again but no ones mentionedd the final as far as i can see!!
there was way too much talent on it to pick one winner!
Susan was brilliant, i read her "makeover" was actually done by her own village hairdresser who shes gone to for yrs! xx
Simon will no doubt get her to do a cd, all the finalists go on tour after as well, so theyre all winners!!
Sharleen is brilliant but the standard was so high he didnt even get in the last three!!
