stupid thread etiquette question

How about not deleting the previous pics in a quoted thread? Scrolling through the same pics over and over again in a quote is more irritating than a +1. Then again, I only use Tapatalk......

This is a good laundry service . I was having fun while at the cardiologist, nothing better to do . But I too would really like specs on the Hats . And I'm enjoying the dry dirty draws on the bob wire fence . Its good to air it out .

I know I'm new , but I enjoy getting to (kind of) get to know everybody , see their Hats , etc. . I'm no expert , but trying to learn . Selfies do seem weird to me , but I like seeing said Hat on said Noggin .

And I laugh at a lot of stuff that could be taken wrong, but I know most are jokes between friends . Laughing is good for the health . I just blew $445 on an old Mac that I probably should have sprung $12-1400 for a New one at 0 interest for 1-2 years 3 year free warranty, plus more for a dab . Dah* Laugh or cry , which is better ?

Like whoever says , I came for the Hats , I stayed for the people . New people don't know about past threads . I'm a semi stewerd on a site and newbies always do that stuff . You just have to remember when you were new and cut some slack . Be kind and guide them .

Sorry I get off topic , bad etiquette, I know . Irritating to me on the other site . I like when new people join in though .

There are a lot more important things to worry about in life than the main subject of this thread. If it ain't broke...leave it alone. :)

aren't there more important things in life than anything on the internet ?

it's a simple observation about a forum I frequent ... has absolutely zero to do with life

are there more important things in life than "what hat you are wearing today" ... "hat rhymes"... "what are you waiting for today" ?

if you somehow took the OP as something that bothered me in the grand scheme of life then you greatly misunderstood the point and clearly didn't pick up the very thick hyperbole in a lot of it

I regret starting this nuisance of a thread and wish it would disappear ... along with +1s of course

My problem with the "Like" button is that using it helps to bury the thread since it doesn't count as a post which is what keeps threads alive. "Like"-ing is also too Facebooky for my taste, I look to the Lounge for education not social media popularity or chatty purposes. Also not having a "Don't Like" button seems a bit un-American to me (he said cynically). Personally, I boycott the "Like" button, so please don't hate me (he said cynically again)

I agree with the above for a different version. When I hit the "like" button it is not personal. When I hit that button I do not make it personal at all. The forum has been very cordial and polite with its sincere postings of appreciation or of gentle criticism of my posts in the past versions of the forum. I recall in the past year or so the effort Manfred would take in greeting all of the posts. He set an excellent example IMO. I see Miamibruno and Charlie setting the modern example. They are stand-up fellows for their efforts. I wish that I made more time to make some personal comments to the generous and kind folks on the forum. To all the fine folks , apologies. I will endeavor to be better.

I do agree with Mike on the education and visual stimulation as the primary desire. I am confident that we all can tell a sincere or well thought out post by most. Posts can have text, pics or both. I do appreciate the artistry or technical nature of the "masters of the posts. " The masters are generous, diplomatic, critical when needed and yes they do scold when the social norms are bridged. It always brings to mind that TV commercial of E.F. Hutton, "when E.F button speaks people listen."

All in all, I do appreciate the nature of the forum being that of a written nature. Less like Facebook/Twitter/Instagram in that the content and context really does matter. I do take enormous consideration the learned situation of the many regular posters. Their interesting lives , experiences and what they choose to share add color to their posts.

On with the hat parade. Chip, chip, cheerio folks, Eric -

Exactly so. We don't have the luxury of nuance, eye contact or body language, all we have is the written word. Despite that, and despite the fact that most of us are not professional wordsmiths, the input of members makes The Lounge an enjoyable place to be. The written word, almost inevitably, causes ambiguity, which in turn can cause misunderstanding, tensions rise, cross words get written. But there's a sense of family here, other members are quick to arbitrate and sooth those tensions, and for the most part, members do tend to back off from confrontation.
Moon, I wouldn't say get a life, far from it, stick around my friend, you are a great entertainer, a good read and you do wear some damn fine hats.
