It seems strange to me to buy a pre-creased hat only to change the crease. If you want a custom crease why not either buy a custom hat or a hat with an open crown. Yes, I understand that open crown hats are rare these day. At any rate, I buy hats because I like them the way they are. If I don't like them, I don't buy them. Perhaps I just don't understand.
My Open Road hasn't met any moisture yet but my new whippet has been covered with snow. I brushed it off and set it to dry. No issues at all. I didn't even have to adjust the shape. It dried and looked just like it did before battling the snowfall. My Western Stetsons have been through anything you could imagine including mud, falling in rivers, snow and rainstorms etc. I have many miles on horse back and I've been thrown from horses in training with Stetsons on my head. Never a problem of any sort. Stetson is the largest maker of high end hats in the business. If they made bad products, that wouldn't be the case. I'm no expert about the hat industry but I'm pretty knowlegeable about business in general.
I own about 8 or 9 Stetson products. Love 'em. I'll continue to buy 'em and recommend 'em to others.
