Special Hangers for Heavy/Expensive Leather Jackets?

Not sure if these have been mentioned here. They look pretty solid and can expand out to about 22 inches I think, which is nice for us wide folk. Sure the floor is an option, and mine do end up there quite a bit, but I also like to keep things up and out of the way. I'm going to try one of these hangers soon, they do cost a bit, but a bit compared to how much it will cost me damaging one of these expensive jackets I value.

What width are these hangers? The amazon page lists their packing size as 15" which is rather less than the 19-20" I would like.

I just took a tape measure to a hanger. They are approximately 17.0-17.5" from end to end (measured straight across, not along the contour of the hanger).

I have kept a couple of old leather jackets I no longer wear on wooden hangers for over a decade with no apparent damage.

I use the word apparent because an old gentleman, now passed, who worked with leather told me not to use hangers. The reason being the weight of the jacket put strain on the stitching. He never mentioned misshapen shoulders.

So, any leather jackets I really care about that are not in current use are either laid in the closet or, in the case of WW2 jackets, kept in archival boxes wrapped in tissue paper.

Regardless how or where my leathers are stored, I try to keep the air from being too dry or damp.

I have a very heavy leather jacket thats made for protection when motorcycle riding and made the mistake of hanging it up on a plastic hanger. Later when I went to go put it on it had broken one part of the hanger! Since then I've kept it on a wooden hanger and there's been no problems with either the hanger or the jacket
