Do you think the same principal applies though? Putting the tie on the collar, before you put it over your head? Or is there some other reason for the straps? They're very interesting little details.

Oh, definitely. Whether starched or soft I always put the tie on the collar, then button the collar on.

Ah! Very good. Just a quick question - do you wear soft detachable collars for simply stylistic reasons, or is there a practical advantage? I enjoy wearing them myself, but find the extra washing a bit of a chore.

Here's a shirt I just finished. From a '30s pattern with my four favorite collars: 3" and 4" spearpoints, a double round, and a square corner (does it have a name?) The last two are copies of '20s Arrow collars.

That's damned nice. Well done! You have considerable skill to keep turning them out at such high quality. Any that go wrong you can send them along to me ;)

For some reason Darcy call their tall and square collar a 'Casual'. Not entirely sure why...

I used to starch them heavily at home, but now I only starch them lightly (semi-stiff, I guess). They keep their shape but the lighter starch lets me wear the tall ones with a collar bar, which I like sometimes.

Edward,
These arrived today, my first 2 Luxire shirts and I couldn't be more pleased. They were ordered on the 20th Feb and first arrived yesterday but I had to arrange re-delivery. The delivery was by DHL and there were no extra VAT or Customs duties. The white is the dobby cotton the same as one of the ones on ebay. It cost $59.99 or about £35.97 including delivery, that compares to £75 plus £6.95 from the ebay seller. Even if the Luxire shirt had been hit with import charges it would still be significantly less. So unless you are in a desparate hurry get them direct - but join the queue I'm about to order some more!

What options did you specify on their website when ordering? ie: which back configuration did you opt for? How did you specify the armhole widths..? etc THANKS

Fashion / demand. The (think of themselves as) gods that decide what is "in fashion" haven't chosen that collar style, so noone stocks it so noone wants it and vice versa.

Lovely! I will have to get onto ordering some of those when I have the cash. Can they be made with eyelets for a collar bar?

Definitely a good price. FWIW, that's around what the ones Angels Wardrobe Supplies do (and those are button cuff only). Darcy's shirts come in about double that (around £75 inc VAT, as I recall), while the ones Marc was involved with were about equivalent to GBP140, if memory serves. Beautiful, but I jut could not afford to spend that on one shirt. I had the impression Marc was a little disappointed they weren't more popular on the lounge, but I think the price point was a barrier to a lot of us.

This is a sweet design. I'm a step closer to ordering a few of these. Well done Luxire with these.

Wanted to send along kudos to Luxire for their Spearpoint collar shirts. I have ordered two and they have been perfect. Quite mind blowing actually. A made to measure shirt, perfectly made and once ordered it took 9 days for the first to reach me....7 for the second (I am in the USA). Feels too good to be true. I plan to keep ordering. Would hate for this opportunity to go away..... Thank you Luxire!

I got a shirt I love from Luxire and I'm ordering two more. I know there's much hatred directed (and rightfully so) at the over-abundance of plain white or blue poplin shirts in modern apparel by vintage aficionados, but as I'm so low on shirts I feel I need at least one white and one blue spearpoint collar shirt as they're so flexible. Has anyone here had experience with the "monte white poplin" or the "pale blue poplin"? Or would there be better Luxire options for vintage white and blue shirts?

Thanks, guys!

Why don't you choose a fabric with more visual interest? Basically everything is more interesting than a solid poplin. How about a self pattern, a dobby, end-on-end? Even an Oxford would be less boring than poplin.

Good call. They have quite a few dobby and end-on-end patterns. I'm sure this is a total newbie question, but are end-on-end and oxford suitable to wear with suits?

And what do you guys think of twill? Also, if the fabric weight number (e.g. 2/80, 2/120, etc.) has an "s" (e.g. 2/80s) next to it, does that mean it is a "super" fabric and thus not good for a vintage style? (I hate super fabrics in suits)

I'm a white poplin point collar suit guy. I like to bring color and pattern to my jacket, tie, and hat. Shirts should be simple as they are undergarments.
