OK, I am looking for a place that sells original 1940s used suits for a WWII project I am doing. Any sources for vintage suits?

Apologies if there is a list somewhere here, but I am new to the site.

Well, Sir, I've accumulated what I have through eBay and etsy buys...
but I am in the geographical oddity known as Juneau, two weeks from everywhere.

Where are you looking to start? Local? Statewide? There is a thread going in the General Attire section about haberdashers in Chicago, that's all new stuff, but all the folks in Chicago are replying, so you might try sending them a personal message or two.

What's the project?

And of course welcome to the lounge, we're glad to have you here.

I am in Chicago, of course. I guess my problem is that I do not weigh 80 pounds! I am a 48 regular and I've been looking on ebay for a few weeks and never seen anything larger than a size 40 except once and that was only a size 44.

I was hoping there was a vendor someone knew about that had some for sale.

Ah well. What can ya do?

Night and Day Vintage. 2228 West Belmont Ave. Great store with lots of larger sized vintage that last time I was in there … It was over 3 years ago, now, though [huh]. There were a few other vintage stores on that same street. I will say prepare to be disappointed. Stuff in that size just isn't very common.

You might also try american vintage classics (http://www.americanvintageclassics.com/) and their sister site (http://www.american-vintage.net/). I think i've already pointed people at all the big stuff over there, but there might be something else. He's not cheap, though.

Just my 2 cent ditto to the Baron's recommendations for AVC and the sister site. I have bought quite few hats, suits and topcoats from these sites and am seldom disappointed. The descriptions are accurate and the prices, while not cheap, are fair.
