Songs That Mention Hats

Down the road a ways I've heard say a new day's coming on
Where the women folks are friendly and the law leaves you alone
I'll believe it when I see it and I haven't seen it yet
Don't mind me, just keep on talking, I'm just looking for my hat

Ain't No God In Mexico by Billy Joe Shaver, sung by Waylon Jennings

This would also fit into the "You know that you are getting older when:" thread - I used to produce a French radio program and back in 2020 in one of the programs I played Fernandel's version of "J'ai un beau chapeau" which I completely forgot about. So for all the francophones/francophiles here you are:

Fernandel also sang about hats in 1942: "Ah c'que t'es bath avec ton p'tit chapeau":

Some other ones for the francophones/francophiles: "Le chapeau de Mireille":

Four classics:

You can't stop, once you've started looking for them:

My Hat And Your Guitar

This hat and your guitar
Lay on Grandma’s wedding quilt
Underneath the live Oak tree
Behind the cabin Grandpa built

Slip on that sweat stained Stetson
Take that Martin from its case
Set down on that tattered quilt
Put Bluebonnets on your grave

All that’s left for me to hold
Is this hat and your guitar

A post on another thread got me to thinking about Brooks Atwood.
While he is a hatter he at one time was a singer.
Here is a clip of him in keeping with this thread title.

Also if you get the chance and he has the time, he has a cool story to tell about the time he flew in to sing with Loretta Lynn!

I was all but 22 I think at the time
I’d been out on the road lonely at night
And it’d been a while so it was on my mind

Well I saw him walk in with his Cowboy hat
I thought to myself I could use some of that
His boots like glass on the sawdust floor
Had moves like nothing I’d ever seen before

So I walked right up and pulled him aside
Handed that man a beer and looked him in the eyes
I said baby, I think you’ll wanna hear this
Then I told him
