Now that's funny. Starting on Thursday, I'll be on a little tour with a bunch of Irish musicans. I've only played with the accordeon guy before, the rest of the 'band' I don't know - but I guess it won't be too much of a problem as we're going to play mostly traditional tunes (jigs and reels) anyway.

A world tour?
If so, and you'll be in the Netherlands, please let me know ;).

Now that'd be grand, wouldn't it? But alas, it's only somewhere in northern Germany that we're going to play three shows and then one near Berlin (the city... ;)) to finish off our wee little mini tour on Sunday.

By the way: I lóve your new avatar.

Thanks! :)

Carlos Gardel -- Sus Ojos Se Cerraron (1935)
(Her Eyes Were Closed)

Lyrics
(English translation)
She closed her eyes and the world kept going
Her lips that were mine no longer kiss me
The echoes of her rich laughter have faded
And this cruel silence hurts me so

Mine was the gentle mercy of her hands
That soothed my sorrows with kind caresses
And now buried in my grief when I remember her
The entwined tears refuse to flow
And I don't have the consolation of being able to cry

Why did its cruel wings snuff out her life
Why this sinister grimace of fate?
I wanted to protect her but death was stronger
How much I hurt and how deep is my wound

I know that now strange faces will come
With their charity of comfort for my torment
Everything is a lie, a lie their lament
Today my heart is alone

Like dogs of prey the traitorous troubles
Hanging over her galloped at her heels
And hidden in the liquid of her sweet glance
Crouching death marked her life's end

In vain I nourished a feverish hope
Suffering dug its claws into my living flesh
While in the streets the carnival of life
Flourished and laughed in crazy riot
Mocking the fate that stole her love from me

Berlin. Thanks for posting those videos. Just beautiful and sure turned me into a puddle. There's nothing in the world like beautiful and meaningful music to really touch your heart. I think I am a new Paddy Reilly fan to be sure. Thanks again.

This one:

It breaks me in half! :(

Please, remember me
Happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin
The time when
We counted every black car passing
Your house beneath the hill
And up until
Someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range,
A piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention
But

Please, remember me
Fondly
I heard from someone you're still pretty
And then
They went on to say
That the pearly gates
Had some eloquent graffiti
Like 'We'll meet again'
And '**** the man'
And 'Tell my mother not to worry'
And angels with their gray
Handshakes
Were always done in such a hurry
And

Please, remember me
At Halloween
Making fools of all the neighbors
Our faces painted white
By midnight
We'd forgotten one another
And when the morning came
I was ashamed
Only now it seems so silly
That season left the world
And then returned
And now you're lit up by the city
So

Please, remember me
Mistakenly
In the window of the tallest tower call
Then pass us by
But much too high
To see the empty road at happy hour
Leave and resonate
Just like the gates
Around the holy kingdom
With words like 'Lost and Found' and 'Don't Look Down'
And 'Someone Save Temptation'
And

Please, remember me
As in the dream
We had as rug-burned babies
Among the fallen trees
And fast asleep
Aside the lions and the ladies
That called you what you like
And even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see
A trapeze
Swing as high as any savior
But

Please, remember me
My misery
And how it lost me all I wanted
Those dogs that love the rain
And chasing trains
The colored birds above there running
In circles round the well
And where it spells
On the wall behind St. Peter's
So bright with cinder gray
And spray paint
'Who the hell can see forever?'
And

Please, remember me
Seldomly
In the car behind the carnival
My hand between your knees
You turn from me
And said 'The trapeze act was wonderful
But never meant to last'
The clown that passed
Saw me just come up with anger
When it filled with circus dogs
The parking lot
Had an element of danger
So

Please, remember me
Finally
And all my uphill clawing
My dear
But if i make
The pearly gates
Do my best to make a drawing
Of G-d and Lucifer
A boy and girl
An angel kissin' on a sinner
A monkey and a man
A marching band
All around the frightened trapeze swingers

Stray Cat, I had never hear this track before you posted it, but the first time I heard it it stuck in my head like glue and I'm sitting here crying listening to it now :(

Thank you for posting this - I think!

Not exactly a song, but this music - a true piece of art - makes me cry in sentimental moods. Especially when the bagpipes come in.

This really should be our national anthem.

Crying in the Rain by the Everly Brothers makes me misty.

I Can't Help Falling in Love With You by Elvis Presley puts me in a trance.

And I agree about the Navy March Chas, definitely shivers!

This really should be our national anthem.

I certainly agree about The Maple Leaf Forever.

The Minstrel Boy is certainly a shiver-inducing tune...wonderfully apt and touching in the soundtrack for The Man Who Would Be King.

And Hearts of Oak always makes me stand a little straighter.

Great choices, Chas.

Amazing Grace, played of course by a Scottish Bagpipe Band, always makes me cry

The Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel has most of the time the same result

The Largo from Dvoráks Symphony No. 9 makes me dream
