Songs That Express Your Philosophy of Life

I think the top one would be "Lost in the Fifties Tonite" by Ronnie Milsap
"Domestic Life" by John Conlee just for it's first line "Cruisin' in my Station Wagon, tryin' to keep the muffler from draggin'" (At least I finally fixed my muffler!
"Rose Colored Glasses" by John Conlee
"Common Man" by John Conlee
"I Wish it Would Rain" by the Temptations has been my unofficial theme song for years.
"My Way" - Frank Sinatra
And a zillion others, these just popped in my head.

Not exactly vintage, other than in one case being used in a period-setting movie, but it's a tie.

Taylor Dayne, Original Sin (used as the theme in The Shadow, a nice vocal companion to Jerry Goldsmith's score)

Marietta, Destination Unknown (yeah, it's 80s, but it's all about that "don't know where I'm headed but my only option is to keep on going" thing--you heard it in Top Gun)

Flipping through this thread, I noticed one song which I reckon reflects my outlook on life, has already been mentioned.

Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries.

Other songs include: "Happy Days are Here Again", and "Let's Misbehave".

Ive been going through a huge transition for about a year. This song was my anthem for the last 33 years because I had been so unfulfilled in a number of areas. All I wanted to do was escape, preferably with that one person who would do it all for me. Thank God I have finally found her.

The screen door slams
Mary's dress sways
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey thats me and I want you only
Dont turn me home again
I just cant face myself alone again

Dont run back inside
Darling you know just what Im here for
So youre scared and youre thinking
That maybe we aint that young anymore
Show a little faith theres magic in the night
You aint a beauty but hey youre all right
Oh, and thats all right with me

You can hide 'neath your covers and study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summers praying in vain
For a savior to rise from these streets

Well now Im no hero thats understood
All the redemption I can offer a girl
Is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now

Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair
Well the nights bustin open
These two lanes will take us anywhere

We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back heavens waitin down on the tracks

Oh, oh, come take my hand
Riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh, oh, oh oh, Thunder Road
Oh Thunder Road
Oh Thunder Road

Lyin out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know its late we can make it if we run
Oh, oh, oh oh Thunder Road
Sit tight
Take hold
Thunder Road

Well I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back if youre ready to take that long walk
From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride it aint free
Well I know youre lonely for words that I aint spoken
Tonight we'll be free
All the promises'll be broken

There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets
They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet

And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
But when you get to the porch theyre gone
On the wind
So Mary climb in
Its a town fulla losers
Im pullin outta here to win

The Boss, good choice Scottyrocks.

"The End" from the Beatles' Abbey Road

Oh yeah, all right
Are you going to be in my dreams
Tonight?

And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.

It's only six lines but the last three just sum it up perfectly.

Hey, hobo man
Hey, Dapper Dan
You've both got your style
But Brother,
You're never fully dressed
Without a smile!

Your clothes may be Beau Brummelly
They stand out a mile --
But Brother,
You're never fully dressed
Without a smile!

Who cares what they're wearing
From Main Street,
to Saville Row,
It's what you wear from ear to ear
And not from head to toe
(That matters)

So, Senator,
So, Janitor,
So long for a while
Remember,
You're never fully dressed
Without a smile!

-- You're Never Fully Dressed Withou A Smile " Annie "

Childish!, but you can't argue with it! :)

I'm afraid you'll be the only one to say so, but thank you DB, you're very kind! :)
University, work, life whipped me this past year, so it's nice to be able to participate a bit more in the interim.

Behind the 8 ball,..
Once in a lifetime, by The Talking Heads

.....and you may find yourself in another part of the world, you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile,...and you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife.
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

It's all about how life just happens, sort of behind the scenes without much interference from us really.
Reminds me of the old Russian saying: We make plans, God laughs. lol

"Big Bopper's Wedding" is mine, based on personal observations and the unsolicited advice of many, many people. lol

And the man keeps sayin´ ´Do you take this woman
to be your awful wedded wife?´ Heh, heh

And then I started thinkin´ about no more winkin´
At the pretty little gals a-boppin´ by.
No more dancin´ and new romancin´
Lord, it made me want to sit down and cry.
Aw, no pool shootin´ and a rootin´ and a-tootin´
With the boys if I take you for my wife.
I can´t go no place, I gotta look at your face
For the rest of my dog gone life.
This is it!

Ah, honey, what am I doin´ here in the first place?
You knooooooow I don´t go for this marraige bit!
I was only kiddin´! Hahahahahahaha
And there´s your daddy sittin´ over there with a shotgun
layin´ across his lap
And a big smile on his ugly face.
And the man keeps sayin´ ´Are you gonna take this woman or aintcha?´
